Initially I was happy with the main Tau lists depressed FF values.  I even recall saying something to the effect tat FF4+ Tau would be great for a Farsight Enclave list.  Well, during the current Tau infantry discussion I had changed my tune as I felt FF4+ would give the FWs a better role in the army.  It looks like that is very much not the way ti would be going with the main Tau list, so I thought I would follow my own advice and present a Farsight Enclave list.

Here are some of the assumptions that the list is based on:

No Ethereals - (which meant the FWs might need another leader)
Limited Equipment - (In 40k pretty much everything but FWs and Crisis are a 0-1 choice)
Favor engagement over long range firepower
    No Auxiliary Troops

Some of the key differences between this and the 5.0 list:

    No Etheral
Shas'o and Shas'el are units rather than characters.  I did this as I wanted them to have a different weapon loadout and the Shas'o would have a better CC score.  Mostly it was to best represent Commander Farsight as the Shas'O.
Each support formation can only be take once.
The AMHC is replaced by a support group.
Far fewer GM attacks.  Long range attacks that don't require LOS did not seem right for a Farsight list.
No Scorpionfish or Stingray as they don't seem to fit the style of the list.  Although I considered the Stingray as an upgrade.

I labeled it as version 0.5 as I know there are some issues it needs some help with:

1.  What is the right price for Pathfinders that don't have Coordinated Fire when there are fewer GM attacks?
2.  I dropped the Seeker attack from the Devilfish, what is the right price from them now?
3.  Does anything stick out as being obviously stupid?
4.  I dropped the GM attack from the HHs as well, but I am indecisive on that, was that going too far?

Thanks for the feedback!

I think the Sha'Vre could just be a character added to a Fire Warrior stand.

And I don't think the "generic" Shas'O should have the Dawn Blade/*BE* Commander Farsight.

Other than that, looks interesting!

Chroma - could you offer a suggestion how that Shas'vre upgrade might look?

I really struggled with the Shas'el and Shas'o trying to make them interesting with the loss of Coordinated Fire, etc.

I see where you are coming from with Commander Farsight, I really only went that route as we do actually have the right model for it!  But, if I don't go that route, it would be easier to make the Shas'o/el characters again.

Simply make it a character that adds leader and, maybe, markerlights, no other weapons or special abilities/attacks.

After reviewing your list again, I'd even recommend upping the CC on Crisis and Stealth Battlesuits to CC5+.

I had considered MLs, but with so many fewer GM attacks in the list I wasn't sure it would be all that useful.

I will also take a look at the CC attacks.  I think it could be justified, but I was concerned if I gave them too many improvements over the 5.1 versions the points would have to increase too much.  That was one of the nice things about having the Crisis commanders as units rather than characters.  I could take away some shooting attacks and replace them with other abilities, so the costs stayed down.

What do you think of 4 seeker-less Devilfish for 50 points?
