Hi Guys,
since years I would like to play a game involving ALL my PAINTED forces.
Such games are handy though not turning into a total mess and you need space of course :)
Many times I mentioded the best way to handle such a game.

You have always the same problems in big battles either the board is too crowded or to big to cross.

Since I pkanned to use 70K on one side and 90 K on the other
I simply could not place them all at once on the board.
So I thought abou a scenario with reinforcements(which come in waves)

Here is the scenario plan:
Turn1:
-30 K of IG and some Titans defending an area 1.6mx2.4m
-10K of each Squats Tau Eldar attacking from 2 sides (long 2.8m and one short side2.0m)

Turn2:
5KTau and 7K of each Squats and Eldar reinforcements

Turn3:
7KTau 6K Squats and 10K Eldar reinforcemants

Turn4:
Imperial Airforce and Airbornetroops join the game(about 10K)

Turn5:
nothing OR Marines(Ultras and Wolves 22K) and 14K Titans occour at allied deployment zone
depends on game

Turn6:
Marines(Ultras and Wolves 22K) and 14K Titans occour at allied deployment zone OR
Allied airforce and airborne troops join the game(about13K)
depends on game

Turn7:
nothing OR Allied airforce and airborne troops join the game(about13K)
depends on game

Turn8:
END

In this way I make use of all the space I hace(2.8mx2.0m)
and secure that the board is not(too) crowded
while use ALL of my painted forces

Here are now pics form setup....enyo!:

90k vs 70K? That's going to be a hell of a game. I noticed a building that looks suspiciously like the compound where Bin Laden was killed.

Yes! Ulric is back! Let the insanity commence! 90k v 70k? You've outdone yourself this time sir!

You could be are right; http://store.gcmshop.com/p/447/osama-bi ... -285mevobl

I spotted this playset a while back and thought it of dubious taste, but then I realised that the fact that they sell Mosques and destroyed Mosques could be a hell of a lot more incendiary.

Coming soon, the drain pipe where Gaddafi was found and Saddam's hole in the ground hovel*...

*For a limited time only, both sets come with realistic baying mob.

Hi!

When you complete this, you will have run the largest game I have ever seen or heard of.

The largest one I ever ran was a 40k per side IG versus tyranids. All 80 thousand point on table from the getvgo.

Your battle doubles the point value of that battle!!

Kudos to you sir, you have placed a challenge that I will have to strive to surpass!

Well done!

;D Thanks boys
yes it is the Bin Laden complex
I could not resist in buying one :D

Yes it will be 70K VS 90K but in waves
Turn1: 30K VS 30K(Alliance)
Turn2: 30K VS 49K (Alliance)
Turn3: 30K VS 74K(Alliance)
Turn4: 42K VS 74K/Alliance)
Turn5:42K VS 74K(Alliance)
Turn6: 69K VS 74K(Alliance)
Turn7: 69K VS 88K(Alliance)

I think there are never more than 70-80K in total on the board
Since I attack in waves the units could more spread around the board.

Turn1 and 2 are now completed
everything works out quite well until now
I am not using snap fire in this scenario because it will cause too much confusions and casualties.
I also ignored morale checks because it will be a mess.
I did not use SH-damage tables.
I use most of the time old point costs (e.g. LR Coi= 600 points)
Warlord battlegroup(fully armed)=1500 points

Notes for me:
Pretorians can be tough as hell
but the firepower a stormblade can bear is brutal ;D

;D will use them as terrain too.

I play all day all night just have a break for work :-\ :D
It must be around 30 hours pure gaming until now.....ah uh and of course it´s faster cause I play against myselfe :D

Movementphase:
The allied forces attacked the Imperial lines with 250 bikes, jetbikes and trikes(stands)
2 COis Squatbikes try to reach the smaller bridge
Image
another 2+ 2 det. try to secure the bigger one followed by Pretoreans and some Inf.
Image
Tau moving in
Kroot forces attack the 1st defense line
Image
Image
Jetbikes swarm out to attack everything they can reach
Image
Image
Wave serpents(just had 3 models painted but own 14 units ;) ) have sent their shockwaves to weak the imperial lines
Image
Phantom Titans giving fire support
Eldar Warhost support the jetbike attack
Image

Fieldmarshall Ulric the lazy one
Image

back to the Tau line bloody CC in the damaged skyscraper between Kroot hunters and Ratling snipers
Image
Jetbikes try to avoid CC aginst SH tanks
Image
Tau hammerheads and Swordfishes giving firesupport
Image
big Squat stuff follows the Trike and bike attack
I placed them in the 1st Turn because they are so slow and can gice the bikes heavy firesupport instead of tanks and inf. which would charge/advance too.
Image
brutal fighting around the big bridge
Image

Artillery emplacement
Image
Image
Image

Next day first fire
Image
Imperial artillery and SH tanks cause many casualities under the Eldar´s ranks
in return several of these weapon platforms got destroyed by Exarch and las cannon fire
Image
Vortex missiles did not manage to destroy the Phantom
but another one got destroyed by Warlord and artillery fire
Image
Image
Viper bikes advance behind the smaller ones to pick up remaining imperial Inf.
Image

The Tau forces smashed aside the few defenders and closed up to the Squats attack on the bridge
while destroying everthing within range
Image
The Squat Pretoreans dealt out heavy blows with imperial SH tanks(mostly Stormblades)
several Tanks got destroyed but one Cyclops too while another one suffered heavy damage
Image

After CC /advance)
The Squat bikes suffered horrible casualities during CC they lost 2/3rds of thier fights against Sentinels, Rugh riders and Tactical Inf.
Of course the IG troops suffered also casulatities but much less than expected
Image
A bridge too far?
Image
The IG lines seem stbile will the allied force find a gap?
Image
Image
The Squats suffered most in Turn 1
Image
While the Tau only had a few losses
Image
and securde all their goals for Turn 1
Image

Eldar and Ig troops fight like angry cats
more a tie here
Image

Points Turn 1:
IG: 83(Eldar 35 Squats 43 Tau 5)
Allied forces: 50

enjoy!

Hi!

By the way I recognize almost all the terrain, but who does the rivers? That's the only thing that's lacking in my collection and these look good. :)

Those rivers are nice. But that's not the question that's on my mind; How in hell do you keep track of all your units? You must forget to move or fire some of them!

And another thing! How do you have enough order counters for all of that? I barely have enough to cover a 6k game!

(If anyone is looking to offload some order counters, please let me know!)

Hi!

It happens a lot in games this size Bissler, which is why I have found that such games are best run with multiple people per side player a small fraction of the units for best speed and the least amount of "forget to move".
