Hard to understand how everything played out but in my experience the 75 cm battlecannons of the colossus is quite important. You know that he can only shoot 75 + 10 cm move the first turn. So therefore the enemy can setup 7 cm behind the starting zone (if you use 80 cm between startup zones) since a few of the tau big guns have 1 m range. It is actually quite likely that the squat player will shoot cause he might think that he will reach. (he lacks like 2-3 cm and you know it) In my experience there in no army that can stand the squat pounding IF he can reach with most of his weapons.

As a squat player you can play quite defensive cause you outshoot your enemy 99% of the battles. Therefore you let him come to you. If you charge with your bikes full speed they have less backup and therefore can be outnumbered.
Just some thoughts there is nothing that says these things happened in this battle. Just wanted to share my experiences..

Edit: And yea.. With 9000 points a landtrain/tunneling landtrain (with the beautiful RADbomb/AA reroll if on FF)some tunnelers could be considered. I think 2 companies of bikes should be enough.

I had not much 100cm Troops
only tha skayrays and stingrays
and the manta in turn 2

While the Tau having a lot of weapons with a good to hit value
I always let a big part of them move
Only a few units have a 100cm range
and most of them are still not in my hands :down:

But they are good for advance
with the battlesuits clearing the way and a lot of stealth/infiltrate unit
I always try to let the Manta Cadre be the anvil while the Battlesuit Cadre + stealthsuits are the hammer

On the other hand you could fill the manta with additional Battlesuits
They can spread plasma and missile regards around while disembarking :laugh:

Awesome report....it takes a lot of work to play a massive game like that.  Good to see the Tau taking on a tough opponent like Squats and giving them a kicking too. Hopefully I can get my Tau player off his butt for a game!

It would be realy cool if the pictures were bigger though....it is hard to make out some of the action at times.

Yes thats too bad.
But the only way to post bigger pics, is with an external link or something like that
I had to reduce the size of the pics by 80%.

The abbility of the Squats to brake if they loose 3/4 of their strengh is really hard as opponent
A well dug-in Squat brotherhood is nearly unbreakeable
Especially as a Tau Player with a lack of Building-destroying-weapons.
But the scorpion missile gunships did a good job on dug-in Inf.

Maybe you recognized it but I increased some point costs as an opposit to my former Tau games
I increased the costs for every cadre with a battlesuit command unit by 50 points
as I did with the crisis Battlesuits and boardsides
But I keep the costs for the recon cadre again by 500 points...its still expensive

Its not really work for me
I get a bit  fanatic if playing Epic :laugh:
I don´t fell any  pain or alcohol I drink while playing :whistle:
