Me and Norto had another game testing out the Deathwatch list. This time i brought EPicUK Necrons to mix it up a bit.

The setup:

Norto garrisoned his land speeders by the objective on the left flank. I teleported in 2 sets of Monoliths and tried to surround him a little. Also teleported in 2 pylons in the middle of the board to keep his aircraft off the board.

Turn 1: Deathwatch win initiative.

DW: Land Speeders double and fires on Pylon breaking it.
N: Pylon sustains on land speeders killing 1 (2BM).
DW: Thunderhawk stands down.
N: Monoliths advances and fires on land speeders for 1BM.
DW: Thunderhawk stands down.
N: Monoliths on left flank marshalls.
DW: Thunderbolts stand down.
N: Warriors engages land speeders thru monolith portal and wipes them out with supporting fire from monoliths. 1 warrior dies (1BM).
N: Monoliths double to DW blitz.

END PHASE:
Pylon rallies.

N: Pylon marshalls.
DW: Thunderhawk stands down.
N: Monoliths by DW blitz goes on OW.
DW: Thunderhawk stands down.
N: Pylon close to DW blitz goes on OW.
DW: Thunderbolts stand down.
N: Monoliths on left flank doubles to objective.
N: Spaceship activates and hits nothing.

Monoliths teleport in close to DW blitz with 1BM, Terminator teleport in next to pylon in middle with no BM:s.

TURN 3: Deathwatch wins initiative.
DW: Terminators engages pylon and wipes it out. The critical hit kills 1 terminator stand (1BM).
N: Monoliths on the left flank goes on OW.
DW: Spaceship activates. OB hits nothing. Pinpoint destroys the remaning pylon. Drop pod hits 1 Pylon for 1BM. Monolith OW-fire hits veterans from the pod for 1BM.
DW: Same Veterans retains and engages Monoliths. Monoliths makes all their saves and kills 3 veterans and win the combat.
N: Warriors engages veteran bikes out of the Tomb Complex. Both sides loose 2 units and the warriors win (2BM).
N: Monoliths advances and fires on BTS-vets killing 1 blackstar (2BM).
DW: BTS-veterans marches to Necron blitz.
N: Monoliths doubles towards objective on right flank.
DW: Thunderbolts ground attacks monoliths bu DW blitz for 1BM.
N: Same mMonoliths Marhsalls (clearing all BM:s) and moves to claim both blitz and T&H objective.
DW: Thunderhawk ground attacks warriors by Necron blitz killing 3 stand and breaks them.
N: Warriors doubles out of monolith portal and moves towards objective on right flank.
DW: Assault veterans doubles to objective on right flank and fires on warriors for 1BM.
N: Warriors doubles in and out of monolith portals on the left flank.
DW: Thunderhawk lands by terminators and picks them up. It fires on monoliths on by DW blitz for 1BM.
N: BTS-warriors doubles out of monolith portals by DW Blitz.

END PHASE:
Warriors rallies.
Bike veterans rallies.

Turn 4: Deathwatch wins initiative.
DW: Veterans on right flank engages warriors in front of them killing 4 stands and loosing 3. They win the combat.
N: Warriors engages BTS-veterans out of the Tomb complex portal killing 2 stands for no losses and winning the combat:
DW: Thunderbolts ground atatcks BTS-warriors killing 2 stands (3BM).
DW: Terminators in Thunderhawk retains and air assaults BTS-warriors. The warriors gets wiped out for the loss of 1 terminator stand.
N: Monoliths doubles towards veterans on right flank and fires on them. 1 blackstar dies and the formatin breaks.
DW: veteran bikes doubles to Necron blitz firing on warriors for 1BM.
N: Monoliths advances to objective on left flank.
DW: Empty thunderhawk engages warriors by necro blitz wiping them out with the support of veteran bikes. 1DC is done to the thunderhawk (1BM).
N: Monoliths engages terminators by DW blitz killing 1stand but looses the combat. Terminator break due to BM:s.
N: Warriors advances to DW.blitz thru monolith portal.

END PHASE:
Terminators fails to rally.
Warriors rallies.
BTS.veterans fails to rally.
Monoliths rallies.

2-2 (BTS & Blitz vs Blitz & T&H).

Deathwatch killed 1163 points.
Necrons killed 1707 points.

It's always a weird fealing facing the deathwatch. First your horrified by the inasane power of engagements they have and think that all hope is lost when the assaulting start. But then you see them startign to fall apart slowly and get grinded into dust by the attrition of battle.

As i commented before, they feel very much like a alphastrike super elite army that can't handle prolonged combat. That to me is very fluffy and and interesting style of playing. You can also do lots of different combinaions of assault themed lists which is very fun.

i also gotta be honest and say that i don't know how to play necrons well at all and maybe didn't use them to their advantage to the fullest.

I wished mor epeople tried this list out! It's fun, got it's own theme and deserves to be approved.
