This ended up 3-1 Necrons with Blitz, T&H, BTS to Blitz. The Squats had some pretty bad luck and the Necrons managed some good saves throughout. Getting to go first in turn 3 or breaking the BTS could have swung it to 3-2 or maybe even a turn 4 but the dice weren't cooperating.

Hey Dave, for some reason I thought Destroyers were 350 points base. The Heavy Destroyer formation with one Wraith is only 350 points, which drops the other Destroyer formation to 475 points so my army total was 2,945 points.

Yeah, the dice were kind to me. I'm looking forward to trying out the Squats in the next game, should be fun.

That was a good read. Have a squats player in our group here too. Necrons are a tough match up for the stunties. Clearly some bad dice rolls though.

Depends on the squat build, deployment, and terrain. Deployment is key against Necrons, and building a plan to deal with teleporting into it. A few suggestions:
1. Invert your scout screens. I'm generally pretty happy if i can wipe a fragile scout unit with an assault, so keeping them behind more substantial units like warriors and berzerkers will help.
2. Only overwatch assaulting units. Necron assaults rely in part on having no BM's to win, as they don't hit quite as hard as you'd think, and if you take out a few warrior stands even better.
3. Try and keep clear lines of fire wherever possible when on overwatch. I'll often avoid overwatch fire with Necrons by good use of terrain.
4. Necrons can really struggle to take out the sturdier war engines. A couple of them are an absolute nightmare to deal with, as they are difficult to take out in assault.
5. Objective placement is also your friend. Necrons are slow, so spreading objectives can be pretty effective.
6. Never shoot a monolith unit that isn't in a good position! If you break them it just gives them a chance rally off board and re-deploy somewhere better.

You can't do much about crappy dice though ;)
