Post subject:  Orks vs DKoK 3K

Me and Norto did another game over Vassal to try out some Ork changes suggested in the NDC.

I tried out the following:
Fighter-Bombas gets fixed forward arc on their weapons.
Stompa mobs goes to 4-8-12 units in formation for same price.
Extra Stompas goes to +50p.

I garrisoned my big gunz of the blitz and both stompa formations as close to the middle line a spossible going on OW. Norto garrisoned 1 death rider unit close to my stompas.

TURN 1: Orks win initiative.

Ork1.1: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks garrisoned death riders for 1BM.
Ork1.2: Stompa mob retains and engages same death riders. ! death rider die for no stompa losses. Stompas win by 2 points.
DKoK1.1: Shadowsword advances forward and fires on stompas for 1BM.
Orks1.3: Fighter-bombas ground attacks shadowsword for 1BM.
Orks1.4: Fighter-bomas retain and ground attacks same Shadowsword for 1BM.
DKoK1.2: Same shadowsword marshalls and moves.
Orks1.5: Stormboyz on left flank doubles forward.
DKoK1.3: Thunderbolts intercepts Fighter-bombas killing 1 (2BM).
Orks1.6: Stormboyz doubles forward.
DKoK1.4: Thunderbolts intercepts Fighter-bombas killing 2 (3BM).

TURN 2: DKoK wins initiative (poor Orksies)

DKoK2.1: Inf Co engages stompas killing 4 for the loss of 1DC on a gorgon. They win the combat by 1.
DKoK2.2: Inf Co retains and engages othe rstompas wiping them out for the loss of 1DC on a Gorgon.
Orks2.1: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks Shadowsword critting it out of existence.
DKoK2.3: Reg HQ engages storm boyz by central ruins wiping them out for no losses.
Orks2.2: Stomrboyz engages lone death rider commisar and loose combat by 1 after 2 round of fighting (whaaat??!)
DKoK2.4: Stormsword doubles and fires on broken stompas killing 3 in total.
Orks2.3: Big gunz sustain on reg HQ doing 1DC on a gorgon (2BM).
DKoK2.5: Thunderbolts goes on CAP.
Orks2.4: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks reg HQ doing 2DC on a Gorgon (3BM).
DKoK2.6: Shadowsword doubles into central ruins with the help of the SC-reroll and fires broken stompas wiping them out.
Orks2.5: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks reg HQ for 1BM.

Orks3.1: Big guns doubles back towards Ork Blitz and fires on lone death rider commisar killing him.
Orks3.2: Supa-Stmpa mob retains and engages killing 3 stands in total and wins the combat only loosing both shields in return.
DKoK3.1: Shadowsword advances and fires on supa-stompa mob doing 3DC to Supa-stompa (4BM).
Orks3.3: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks Stormsword for 1BM.
DKoK3.2: Inf Co engages supa-stompa mob wiping it out for the loss of 1DC on a ogorgon (and also claiming the BTS-objective).
DKoK3.3: Stormsword tries to retain but holds and breaks.
Orks3.4: Fighter-bombas ground attacks inf co killing 1 stand (2BM).
DKoK3.4: Same inf co holds an moves towards DKoK blitz (1BM).
Orks3.5: Warband doubles to objective and fires on Inf co for 1BM.
DKoK3.5: Thunderbolts ground attacks big guns by ork blits killing the oddboy (2BM).
Orks 3.6: Landa ground attacks inf co for 1 BM.
DKoK3.6: Thunderbolts fail to activate,
Orks3.7: Fighter-bombas ground attacks reg hq for 1BM.
DKoK: Reg HQ marches to claim both forward DtF objectives.

DKoK wins 2-1 (BTS & DtF - TSNP) in turn 3.

My thoughts:

gah! Meeting DKoK is always hard, thoose inf co really did their job just right soaking all the damage on the gorgon s and dishing out some serious hurt in engagements.
I played really awfull and didn't seem to be able to come up with a good plan to win. I redeemed my bad performance by winning 2 minigeddon games later today... :-)

The suggested changes for stompas (both giving the formation 1 more unit and having extras for +50 points) is still a very good suggestion IMO. They got their asses whooped in this fight and i don't think they become really over powered with the unit increase. Now you dare to take them in a list since 8 of them (with a big mob) with a flakwagon can actually be of some use. This change is really needed to see them on the board more.

Fighter-bombas having fixed forward arcs on their guns is ok. I don't think that them not having it is a game breaker either. The FB:s are one of the best (maybe even the best) units in the ork list but i don't think the nerf to them is needed. The list deserves at least one really good unit that shines. BUt I also feel that the fixed forward arc doesn't make them much worse either. They are a ground attack unit mostly, not a intercept unit.
