Post subject:  Codex Marines vs Biel-Tan Eldar 3K
So, had another Vassal game against Norto. We tried out Codex Marines and Eldar changes from the NDC list.

I took mariens and tried out the following:

Predator Destructors Autocannon having 2 shots.
Land Raiders as +50 points upgrades.

Norto took Eldar and tried out the following:

Void Spinners to 300 from 275.
Cobras with Epic UK stats.
Exarches losing their extra attacks.
Broken Farseers can't summon Avatar.

TURN 1: Eldar wins initiative.

Eldar 1.1: Scorpion doubles forward and fires on Predators killing 2 (3BM).
Marines 1.1: Thunderbolts ground attacks rangers for 1BM.
Eldar 1.2: Void Spinner holds and clears it's BM:s.
Marines 1.2: Predator destructors doubles and fires on rangers killing 2 and breaks the formation.
Eldar 1.3: Void Spinner sustains with the help of the SC and fires on garrisoned land speeders killing 1 (3BM).
Marines 1.3: Warhound doubles to central ruins.
Eldar 1.4: Guardians marches to middle ruins.
Marines 1.4: Predator Annihilators Marshalls and moves forward.
Eldar 1.5: GUardians doubles.
Marines 1.5: Thunderbolts ground attacks guardians in middle ruins killing the farseer and a guardian stand (3BM).
Eldar 1.6: Cobra doubles and fires on Predator Annihilators for 1BM.
Marines 1.6: Warhound doubles and fires on Cobra for 1BM.
Eldar 1.7: Falcons doubles and fires on land speeders for 1BM.
Eldar 1.8: Falcons retain and doubles to fire on Predator destructors (claiming crossfire) killing 3 and breaks the formation.
Marines 1.7: LAnd speeders doubles and fires on falcons for 1BM.
Marines 1.8: Bikes retain and engages falcons wiping them out for the loss of 1 attack bike.
Eldar 1.9: Cobra doubles next to Void Spinner.
Marines 1.9: Devastators doubles forward and fires on Cobra doing 1dc and breaks it.
Eldar 1.10: Shining spears marches.
Marines 1.10: Devastators goes on OW by marine blitz.
Eldar 1.11: Shining spears marches.

END PHASE:

Predator destructors fail to rally
Cobra fails to rally.

TURN 2: Marines win initiative.

Marines 2.1: Land speeders advances and fires on shining spears killing 1 (2BM).
MArines 2.2: Bikes retain and engaging the same shining spears. After 2 rounds of combat the bikes win. Obly the chaplain is left in the bike formation and only an exarch is left in the shining spears formation.
Eldar 2.1: Scorpion sustains on Predator Annihilators killing 1 and breaks them.
Eldar 2.2: Void spinner tries to retain but Holds.
Marines 2.3: Land speeders doubles and fires on broken lone shining spear exarch killing it and claims the BTS-objective.
Eldar 2.3: Void spinner sustains on broken Predators killing1 due to BM:s.
Marines 2.4: Devastators doubles and fires on guardians killing 2 and breaks the formation.
Marines 2.5: Warhound retains with the help of the SC and sustains on rangers killing 1 stand and breaks the formation.
Eldar 2.4: Shining spears engages land speeders next to them wiping them out for no losses.
Eldar 2.5: Falcons retain and sustains on other land speeders killing1 (2BM).
Marines 2.6: Warhound advances and fires on Cobra for 1BM.
Eldar 2.6: Cobra holds and fires on Warhound destroying it.
Marines 2.7: Thunderbolts ground attacks broken rangers and wipes them out.
Eldar 2.7: Guardians marches to central ruins.
Marines 2.8: Thunderbolts fails to activate.
Marines 2.9: Devastators doubles and fires on guardians for 1BM.

END PHASE:

Bikes rallies.
Cobra Ralies.
Predator Destructors rallies.
Predator Annihilators fails to rally.

Avatar shows up next to Devastators and Warhound in central ruins.
TURN 3: marines win initiative.

Marines 3.1: Devastators engages guardians and wipes them out for the loss of 1 stand.
Marines 3.2: Devastators marches back to blitz (keeping the marine BTS safe from the Avatar next to it!)
Eldar 3.1: Shining spears engages land speeders- They wipe the formation out but looses 4 stands themselves and breaks.
Eldar 3.2: Avatar retains and engages warhound wiping it out for no damage.
Marines 3.3: Thunderbolts ground atatcks Cobra doing 1DC and breaks it.
Eldar 3.3: Void Spinner holds (again!!)
Marines 3.4: Thunderbolts ground attacks cobra, 1 is shot down by AA fire, for 1BM.
Eldar 3.4: Void spinner sustains on broken land spinner and kills it.
Marines 3.5: Lone bike chaplain doubles to claim T&H objective.
Eldar 3.5: Scorpion doubles and fires on bike killing it.
Eldar 3.6: Falcons holds and clears their BM:s.
Eldar 3.7: Cobra holds and breaks.

END PHASE:

Predator destructors rallies.
Predator Annihilators rallies.
Shining spears fails to rally.
Cobra fails to rally.

Eldar 4.4: Void spinner sustains on devastators killing 1 land raider and 2 stands breaking the formation.
Marines 4.4: Devastators by marine blitz marches to claim both T&H objectives.
Eldar 4.5: Falcons doubles to contest T&H objective.

Devastators rallies.
Shining spears rallies.
Cobra fails to rally.
Cobra fails to rally.

Marines have BTS and Eldar have nothing.
Eldar wins a major draw with 1400-2075 points.

My thoughts:

What a bloodbath! Fun game aganst Norto that i really enjoyed!

Didn't get to try the Annihilators out much since they spent most of the game broken.
Had 2 formations in devastators in land raiders which made them feel very durable. The reinforced armour helped me save hita in 1 engagment and i even started with my guys on the blitz mounted in their transports!
The formation gives marines some good fire power and will probably be well used in foot slogging marine lists.

Can't say much about the eldar changes. The farseer got killedfirst turn and couldn't summon the Avatar. The other formation didn't get broken before they summoned him.

Haven't faced that many Eldar SHT:s before so can't really say how the proposed stats impacted the game. They killed alot of things though!

Shining spears never made it into CC so we didn't get to see how the loss of their extra attck was either. But 2 less 4+ attacks wil lsurely matter sometimes.

I'll let Norto give his thoughts.

Thanks for the report. I'll be honest I thought that the Eldar had over stretched themselves in the first turn, but they managed to hold on.

My first time so Im definitely not a pro using them. Did feel like i was getting smashed but seemed to always have enough to push through.

Voids activated 2 or 3 times over the 4 turns so I can't really comment on the point increase, spears didn't see CC. Its going to be hard to find a situation where a career is broken at an optimum time to double for summon, have been on the receiving end before of it and it's a little on the crap side. Cobra went nuts and rolled a 6 to damage shooting a warhound. So I don't think it changes the outcome either way for the different stats.
