It's not a hard and fast rule with given criteria, more of a discussion had between relevant TO's to restrict the issues that we have faced in the last couple of years. E.g. Squats are a problem because of overlord spam - so DBAD and restrict yourself in overlords and activation count. Biel Tan are a problem because of their access to an array of OP units so don't take shining spears and double scorpion and double void spinner and 14 activations etc etc... The Biel tan there this year had no issues whatsoever. The only 2 lists this year that were rejected initially were Dark Eldar spamming VOP and Feral Orks spamming Orkeosaurus. The rest went through fine. It's not supposed to be a big nasty stick making everyone play fluffy, just a general recommendation (that gives the TO teeth as needed) that your list should at least allow your opponent to enjoy the game. Mick and I won all of our games this year but (on paper at least) the armies that we ran had obvious strengths and weaknesses which anyone could potentially counter. That's what its about. In the past when I was spamming overlords and orkeosaurus and Mick was spamming Biel Tan we both knew before the comp that nobody would turn up with anything that could challenge us except the other guy and that generated a heap of bad blood in our community. DBAD is about recognising that there really isn't great balance between lists in this game but that you don't need to throw your hands up in frustration at every comp setting or just run the uber builds. It's closing the gap between the expectations of social play and tournament play to make the game engagable for everyone. Frankly it's the healthiest our community has ever been, giving up on waiting for Taccoms to fix (or even listen to) the problems we identified has been great for our community and I'd encourage everyone to try something similar if you find yourself in the negative spiral our comps were experiencing. |

It's also allowing us to bring in the developmental and even experimental lists without too much worry. We tried the taccoms way, didn't work for us. So far with 2 comps down and more DBAD comps this year this new system seems to be working and having a healthy impact. Maybe next year we'll try a different scenario or two as well to get away from using the GT scenario for all 6 games. Shale up the meta a bit |

Def getting more scenarios in helps immensely. I was actually surprised that Wheaton's Law was not strictly enforced already by TO's. Glad to see it's working well for you all! |

Hmm, well if it works for the wider Australian community that’s great - keep on going. But it does sound a bit as though you have an informal list of units / formations that you already consider excessively OTT, or perhaps in particular combinations, so perhaps you might consider publishing this advice somewhere for the guidance of both participants and umpires (and the outside world  ).

We used the new scenario Richard Lanking and his compatriots has been tinkering with at the latest tournament here in Sweden (1 match out of 3). Was fun and defintivly made us play differently than when playing the normal tournament scenario. I recommend everyone trying it! |

Yes we will! There was several times during that match where we felt that we made very different tactical choices from what we would have done usually. And that was very inspiring! |
