Took the Gargants out for another spin last night. This time it was Uvenlord using the Steel Legion that i faced.

Setup was the following:

Stompa mob garrisoned on the right flank next to a forest. Lootas garrisoned behind a hill near the blitz. Inf Co garrisoned in the Battlescene design Guildhall of awesome in the middle.

I setup the rest of my units in the center mostly planning to keep everything tight and control the middle of the board.
UvenLord spread out his forces over his whole deployment zone since both his objectives where out on the flanks.

TURN 1: Steel Legion wins initiative.

SL: thunderbolts go on CAP.
G: fighta bommers ground attack deathstrikes. Intercepting thunderbolts and Hydra AA only manages to do 1BM (haha, Waaaagh!) and both deathstrikes are destroyed.
SL: Marauders ground attack lootas. Gargant AA does 1BM. 1 killa kan, 1 grotz and 1 boyz are killed (4BM)
G: fighta bommers ground attack warhound on right flank stripping 2 shields (1BM).
SL: artillery sustains on supa-stompa for 1BM.
G: fighta bommers intercept marauders. 1 fighta bommer gets shot down before both marauders are destroyed.
SL: sentinels marches down the left flank.
G: great gargant doubles forward and fires on garrisoned inf co killing i stand (2BM).
SL: flak battery doubles forward in the middle.
G: Supa-stompa doubles forward and fires on flak battery for 1BM.
SL: inf co marshalls, shedding all it's BM:s, and fires on hreat gargant for 1BM.
G: lootas doubles forward and fires on flak battery for 1BM.
SL: reg hq doubles forward and fires on lootas killing the nobz and 3 boys breaking the formation.
G: stompa mob doubles into forest and fires on inf co for 1BM.
SL: SHT co advances forward and fires on stompa mob killing 1 stompa (2BM).
G: Gargant doubles towards middle.
SL: warhound on left flank advances and fires on stompa mob for 1BM.
SL: warhound on left flank advances and fires on stompa mob killing 1 stompa and breaking the formation.

END PHASE:

Lootas fails to rally.
Stompa mob rallies.

TURN 2: Steel Legion wins initiative.

SL: reg hq advances and fire on supa-stompa stripping 5 shields (1BM).
G: gargant doubles up next to reg hq and fires at them killing 2 chimeras and 2 stands (5BM).
G: supa-stompa retains initiative and engages reg hq. With the support of the gargant 5 stands and 4 chimeras are killed (including hackdowns) while the supa stompa looses it's remaining shields and 2DC. both formations break.
SL: artillery sustains on stompa mob for 1BM.
SL: inf co retains and advances within the Battlescene design guildhall of awesome (tm) and fires on stompa mob killing flak wagon and breaking the formation.
G: great gargant doubles into forest and fires on SHT co killing 1 shadowsword (4BM).
SL: SHT co marshalls with the help of their supreme commander and fires on broken stompa mob killing 1 stompa due to BM:s.
G: fighta Bommers ground attack sentinels on left flank killing 1 (2BM).
SL: warhound on right flank doubles forward and fires on broken stompa mob wiping it out.
G: fighta bommers ground attack sentinels on left flank killing 2 and breaking the formation.
SL: warhound on right flank doubles forward and fires on broken supa-stompa doing 1DC.
G: fighta bommers ground attack warhound on right flank stripping 1 shield and doing 1DC (2BM).
SL: thunderbolts stand down
SL. flak battery fires on broken supa-stompa for no damage.

END PHASE:

1 fighta bommer in 2 different formations gets shot down on their way out.

TURN 3: Steel Legion wins initiative

SL: Flak battery doubles and fires on broken lootas wiping them out.
G: fighta bommers ground attack hydras. Hydra defensive flak kill one airplane. 1 hydra is destroyed and the formation breaks.
G: gargant retains, doubles to gargant blitz and fires on warhound for 1BM.
SL: warhound adavances and fires on broken supa-stompa for no damage.
G: fighta bommers ground attack broken hydras near gargant blitz wiping them out.
SL: thunderbolts ground attack broken supa-stompa for no damage.
G: fighta bommers ground attack sentinels but hydra AA from the reg hq shoot both airplanes down.
SL: SHT Co advances backwards behind hill.
SL: Inf co holds and fires on great gargant for 1BM.
G: great garagnt doubles with the help of the SC and fires on warhound near gargant blitz destoying it.
SL: Artillery sustains on supa-stompa finally destroying it.
SL: warhound on right flank doubles and fires on gargant stripping 3 shields (1BM).
SL: reg hq advances on left flank.

END PHASE:

no broken formations.

TURN 4: Steel Legion wins initiative (again!!!)

SL: thunderbolts ground attack agargant by blitz stripping 2 shields.
G: great gargant engages inf co in battlescene designs guildhall of awesome killing 2 stands for the loss of 4 shields. it wins the combat and hacks down 4 more stands.
SL: warhound marshalls with the help of the SC shedding all BM:s and powering up both shields.
G: fighta bommers ground atatck reg hq for 1BM. Hydra AA shot 1 airplane down.
SL: artillery holds and regroups.
G: fighta bommers ground attack sentinels on left flank wiping out the formation.
SL: reg hq doubles to T&H objective on right flank.
G: gargant doubles forward and fires on broken inf co killing 3 stands all in all.
SL: SHT Co doubles forward and fires on gargant stripping 3 shields.

END PHASE:

Inf co fails to rally.

1 - 0 in bjectives to Steel Legion (T&H). On to points which sees Gargants winning by 1425 - 1245 (minor draw).

A really bloody battle with lots of casualties! I managed to roll highest amount on shields on all my gargants/supa stompa so it was a very durable army on the table.
The great gargant with 11 shields is crazy to move. It felt unmoveable once it got into the forest in the center-right. It was obvious in the beginning of turn 3 that tis would be a points game...

Thats 2 wins in a row for the list. Interesting considering the opinions that the list is underpowered points wise.

I have been wondering about taking two great gargants both with extra armour and possibly more shields, a supa stompa and 5/6 fighta bomma formations.... sit a gargant on the blitz and between the t&h objectives, fly the planes around taking out small formations and being annoying and unless the opponent can break or kill one of the gargants (tough prospect with 13DC!!) you can play for a draw quite easily.... I'm keen to try it out sometime soon as potential gaming of the list
