The Subjugators came back from their 10k megabattle this weekend to find their Ork buildings populated with Orks again. Needless to say, they brought out the bleach and Ork-be-Gone (Flamers). This game was with Adam yesterday, I brought the 7/9 Special again. He's played around 5-10 games with us so far and knows the game pretty well at this point so we're hoping to make him a regular. Unfortunately I forgot about the 1/3 limit for Gargants/ACs when I was checking his list over so three extra fightas made their way onto the field. Not a huge deal, they only managed to kill 2 Whirlwinds and a 3 Speeders over the course of the game. Start of Game Start of Game The Fighta Bommers take out two Whirlwinds. The Tacticals lay a BM on the Scorchas. The Blitz Brigade doubles and zzaps a Rhino. The SC advances and lays a BM on the Storm Boyz. The Scorchas fail to engage. The Whirlwinds take out an Ork and a Grot. The 'uge Warband double and takes out a Marine. The Vindicators double and take out a Odd boy and three boyz. The Blitz Brigade doubles and lays a BM on the Vindicators. The Destructors advance and take out a Storm Boy. The Stormboyz double to cover. The Scouts double and lay a BM on the Blitz Brigade. The other Scouts retain and engage. All but a Gunwagon goes down. The brigade is wiped out. The Great Gargant double on the Vindicators and catchs a Scout Rhino under the template. The Annihilators take out some Power Fields with a double. The Bikes engage the Scouts. Two go down from support. They break. The Land Raiders take out some more Power Fields. A Zzap takes a Land Raider out. The Speeders double on the Bikes breaking them and the Chaplain doubles up. |

Turn 2 The Tacticals engage the Brigade and break them. The Land Speeders retain and advance, ZoCing the Gargant and laying a BM on the Brigade. The Warband piles into the Scouts. They die. The Great doubles and take out three Annihilators, breaking them. The Destuctors engage the Storm Boyz. No kills and the Destructors break... The Land Raiders advance and break the Brigage. The Fights lay a BM on the Vindicators. The Storm Boyz engage the SC. Four to three, Marines. The Storm Boys are wiped out. The Whirlwinds take out a stand or two. The Scorchas engage the Tacticals. After a very bloody battle the Scorchas win but break with two left. The SC attempts to march, fails and regroups. The Chaplain marches. |

Turn 3 Turn 3 The Fightas take out three Speeders and break them. The Gargant retains and doubles, taking out the Chaplain and two Rhinos. The Chaplain's formation engages a Blitz Brigade and kills it, breaking the other with BMs. End of Game |

We called this one with an Ork formation left to activate in the third as it couldn't deny a Marine win through Blitz/T&H or through TSNP/DTF. |

So, a few thoughts of my own on this one. First, I'm fielding pretty much everything that I own. That's got to change. I do have five more gargants of varying sizes and dispositions, so I may give OGBM a try. The new rules look wonderful. Second, I remember much more of how to play than I thought I might. It's been over a year since I played last, and almost a year before that. The game is starting to gel, and I'll be playing pretty regularly at least through Christmas, so that should help. Thirdly, and most sadly, I know I've got to lose the GG. More stuff needs to be in this army, I need tougher mobs and/or more activations. But the GG...it's just so...great. I think with GG you have to work to stop them getting distracted. They're so slow that even one turn not doubling it forward is going to leave it in your rear half for the whole game, especially when there are irritating SM players with irritating Land Speeders around ![]() I'd also thin down your 'uge Warband a bit - a couple of smaller warbands garrisoned up close and personal will force your opponent to deal with them first (or risk assaults/ crossfire etc) which will give your GG more freedom to do what he wants. |
