Turn 2 - Marines win initiative - elect for World Eaters to go first - LHS Possessed double into craters - Warhound Advances up centre table and shoots on Cannons of Khorne breaking them - Possessed summon 4 lesser daemons and Charge centre Warhound. Skull Lord dies. Possessed do 2 wounds on Warhound with 1 critical (no extra damage - what a load of rubbsish!). It staggers forward doing no damage to the formation. - LHS Warhound Advances towards Blitz and fires on broken Doomblasters killoing 2 of them. - Devastation Class Cruiser activates. Barrage hits all Whirlwinds and hunter. 1x Hunter and 2x Whirlwind die and they break. Pin point hits RHS Warhound stripping shields and dooing 1 wound no crit. Dreadclaws land around the table. Chosen landing from Dreadclaws for some reason I have the Daemon Prince out here - go figure Berserkers land next 2 Mr Warhound who has been mauled by a pin-point attack - Hmmm Juicy - Chosen retain (forgetting that they have scout - stupid!!) and engage Land Speeders. Land Speeders enact Overwatch and kill 1x INF. Combat ensues. Skull Lord dies to the loss of 1 Landspeeder and the Chosen are wiped out. - Devs sustain on Possessed in centre of table killing 2 (including Skull Lord) and breaking the formation - Landspeeder Tornados retain and assault Chosen with Daemon Prince. Landspeeders kill one and win combat leaving only the daemon Prionce alive for no losses themselves. - Berserkers Charge LHS Warhound killing it for no losses. - Marauder Bombers GA Berserkers killing 1. - Thunderhawk with Tacticals Engages Berserkers. Berserkers wiped out for 1 Tactical unit loss. Rally - Possessed fail to rally Teleporters - Marine Terminators teleport oin front of Possessed on LHS - World Eater Terminators Teleport on own Blitz. |

They fire on Possessed and kill one through BM. - Whirlwinds fire on Possessed killing the last in the formation Rally - Warhound fails you sorry piece of scrap metal. If it wasn't for your bullshit critical.... ![]() Score Marines: 3 DTF, T&H, BTS World Eaters: 1 BTS |

After battle thoughts Well, I really got mauled in that game. I got my ass kicked so hard that I will not be sitting down for a week! ![]() The removal of Fearless and Indomitable has been a big change for the army. Although the drop force looked scary, the 4 man formations are very fragile. I forgot to take advantage of the Scout ability with the drop, however it would not made a difference. I did not have enough to threaten on the ground for the Marines not to go on Overwatch and prepare for the drop. The Warhounds and Marauder bombers really ruined my day. Losing 3 Hellblades from the get go, and then losing both formations of Khorne Support Engines due to incredibly fast moving Warhounds was the killer. I feel the possessed were quite good, yet fragile as well. Their Daemon summoning did come in handy, they just need a chance to act. Chosen - well I am putting these guys back on Slaughterfiends if I can manage that. I may use 1 in a drop, however the Berserker retinues are much more suited to this form of battle doctrine. Although I have taken off Fearless from the Characters, I have given them back Commander so there is scope for these to be used far more effectively than my bungled attempt. It was hard to judge anything from this battle due to how bad I did. Other than to take a more balanced list and look at the numbers in formations, I have to be careful not to claim that the army is wanting for a power boost as it is early days as yet. What it has done is make me go back to the list and start developing some more ideas on list combinations to take. No doubt such a drop formation will need to be tested over and again to see how it fares over time. Essentially however, for now, I do not see an issue with the massed drop. If anything, it has highlighted that the formation or Dreadclaw costings could be reduced in some respect - again, a decision to be looked at only after some heavy testing. Man that was a really bad loss... ![]() |

Aren't Blood Angels supposed to be forced to take the Death Company formation? |
