Got in a game with Chris yesterday morning. It was 1-1 in the fourth with BL having BTS and 'nids having Blitz. BL won in points though ~2250 to ~1000. Definitely a sloppy game from me, looking at the pictures. I made some placement mistakes that could have kept my activation count up but what are you going to do. Any chance that the Onachus list will be fielded against a non-Marine list? And where did you get the name Onachus anyway? |

sounds like the higher SR of BL managed to take the wind out of your knockout punches before they landed - scrappy looking game ![]() |

Ya, we'll be doing some Guard playtests this coming month to see how they stack up. The Onachus is a buffalo-like she-monster which birthed the Tarasque after mating with the Leviathan. It burned everything that it touched. I thought the name fit pretty well with the story and the Hive Fleet naming conventions. |

This is only my second post. The first time I posted, the old Taccom site crashed shortly thereafter - so hold your breath...This was a tough game even though I was able to reduce Dave's activation count. He positioned formations in key spots during turn 3 and my depleted formations couldn't keep the game from going to points. It was intense and fun - the Tyranid list seemed fair. The bugs rally very easily and can absorb other leaderless formations which reflects their "hive mind" fluff. This is balanced by formations not being able to spawn more than their original number. I found that on turn 2 Dave had more threats than I could react to with a retain, so it makes you choose which formations will "take one for the team". Again, this follows the fluff of a Tyranid invasion where the defenders feel overwhelmed. Wether it's 40k or Epic, I've always liked the idea that the defender looks upon the untold masses of a Tyranid invasion with dread bordering on despair ( first Starship Troopers movie ). Keep up the good work on the list Dave and Moscovian. Warning: This website will crash in 3...2...1... |

*slowly opens eyes* hey, taccom is still here! we made it! I watched this one from the sidelines as Chris put my earlier efforts to squash bugs to shame. Well played. It confirmed for me that the bugs win engagements that they should (i.e. cc) and lose the ones that they should (ff). Apparently, not only do we need to playtest, we need to provide suitable variety for the gaming public. Oh noble supplement publisher, please forgive the unforgivable sin of playtesting against too few armies. I'm sure our efforts pale in comparison to your prodigious testing efforts... ![]() |

hey Chris, glad you made it into the 21st century. At last you can throw away that telnet subscription ![]() I'm getting a similar feel from playing against Dave on vassal - they just bloody keep coming! I've won lots of engagements, but every time the warriors survive (and are a bugger to kill when broken, being fearless), rally almost automatically, then respawn the little'uns. Thankfully Dave's vassal dice rolling has been terrible (at last we can take the Dice of Dave out of the equation) and spawning has been limited, but even so, the tide is about to wash over me.. |
