The second game in our "international" Tau playtest, with Dobbsy bringing in his Tau from Down Under to square off against my Heavy Bolter 2009 Orks. Hope to get the armies posted later this evening. |

Battlefield: 4x6 Orks chose long table edge. Deployment: Tau kept Stealthsuits in reserve. Tau garrisoned the Broadsides and Fire Warrior Cadre 2 on overwatch. Orks garrisoned the Stormboyz, the Warband, and the Big Gunz, with the latter two on overwatch. Remaining deployment as shown: |

Turn 1 No teleports. Strategy Roll: Orks Fighta-Bommerz Sqwadron 2 performs a ground attack on the Broadsides and places a Blast marker. Fighta-Bommerz Sqwadron 1 the dives down to strike Armoured Cadre 2 and takes out two Hammerheads. Armoured Cadre 1 doubles down the road to get out of the killing zone. Fire Warriors 1 need the Shas’O’s encouragement to double up into a better position. Blitz Brigade 1 advances and engulfs Armoured Cadre 1 in blasts of fire… which only manage to give them a Blast marker! The Recon Group doubles forward to mark some enemy units. The Kult of Speed doubles to fire on the Recon Group, losing a Buggy to the Broadsides’ overwatch fire, and puts a Blast marker on the Tetras. Blitz Brigade 2 doubles on Armoured Cadre 1… and again the Ork tanks are only able to place a single Blast marker. The Barracuda Squadron runs an intercept on Fighta-Bommerz 1, but the Ork pilots evade them. The Crisis HQ tries to double into the fray, but fails and just shuffles forward. The Gunzmob holds its ground to sustain fire on Fire Warriors 2 and manages to kill two Fire Warrior units. Armoured Cadre 2 marshals, moving up and clearing all Blast markers. The Stompamob eagerly doubles forward… and can’t get a line of sight with any of their weapons! Fire Warriors 1 abandon their position and take a lateral march to get out of line of sight of Ork guns. The Stormboyz double on the Recon Group to drop a Tetra and break the markerlight formation… ![]() End of Turn All Orks rally, while the Broadsides and Tetras fail. |

Strategy Roll: Tau Fire Warriors 1 attempts a co-ordinated fire action with Armoured Cadre 1… but communication errors and very loud Orks prevent even the Shas’O from getting through and the Fire Warriors simply move to spread out a bit. The Kaptain of the Stompamob bellows with glee and doubles to fire on Armoured Cadre 1, placing *two* Blast markers, but doing no damage. The Kult of Speed follows up by engaging Armoured Cadre 1. ![]() The take out three Hammerheads and then win by “2†|

Turn 3 No teleports. Strategy Roll: Orks Blitz Brigade 1 *sustains fire* on the Broadsides, trashing two of them. The Stormboyz then engage the intermingled Broadsides and Fire Warriors 2.  One Stormboy goes down, as does one Broadside and one Fire Warriors, but the “mighty†|

That "second activation" for the Stompamob is a cut-n-paste typo from Turn 2... they only got one activation. *laugh* Armoured Cadre 1 got wiped out in Turn 2: Fighta-Bommerz 1 hits Armoured Cadre 1 and wipes it out. The Stealths never got deployed, Dobbsy forgot to teleport them in Turn 3... and Turn 4 never came up! |
