I was hoping to get some advice on The Ork BTS. I understand you want it to be a formation that is hard to wipe out. So do you make it a unit that's just barely the biggest and try to hide it? Do you make it an unwieldy behemoth? Do you want something tough as nails that can take a pounding? I bet Gargants/ Greater Gargants would be pretty good, but you don't always have them in a list.

I'm happy to learn this through experience, but I was hoping to hear some thoughts and suggestions as far as what you typically try for point sizes (percent of total force), any preferred compositions, things you'd like to try out. I'd love to hear what your BTS does throughout your matches.

Thanks!

Joel

If you are going to use a 'Uge Mob, make sure you manage your blast markers. Orks are great at removing BMs, but once broken they can take a pounding and don't necessarily rally all that great. That is the easiest way to claim BTS against an Ork player. Break their 'uge mob and then shoot at it with everything.

So consider saving your supreme commander re-roll for your rally phase if your BTS mob has acquired a lot of BMs, then rally that formation first. With the help of your nobz you can watch the BMs fall off like scales.

I almost always use a stompa mob with supa-stompa as my BTS. It's very durable with it's 4 DC, ablative wounds in the stompas and of course being fearless. It's also a good way of getting soopa-guns that are hard to suppress.

I'm a noob myself but having faced the stompa+supa stompa combo a couple of times I'd agree it's a solid place to start.

I really appreciate the good conversation! Thank you!

So, 500 points for a Stompa mob with a Supa Stompa. 650 for a Gargant, and what a great idea to have the Warlord here to help remove blast markers! I'm thinking 500 points is a bit steep for a 2k list, but just right for 3k. Am I on track? Even 650 seems like its a bit steep for 3000 points. If I had 650 invested, it would be in the line of fire earning it's keep!

Do you folks tend to hide/ act overly cautious with your BTS or try to make it so tough that it can still actively fight? Maybe a middle ground is the answer? Is a BTS best as a shooty force?

Thanks!

Joel

I personally use a 'Uge Kult of speed with +8 buggies - 32 light vehicles with 35cm move means I can pick my fights and throw a lot of weight to a large area of the board, while being fast enough to simply drive away if things look bad
