Hey guys I mostly play FWC but E:A is pretty big here in Melbourne so I've recently gotten back into it. I have 14,000pt of Eldar, 4,500 of Marines and some 3,000pt-odd of Chaos painted for it. I've been collecting Orks waiting to have enough to get an army together and now I think I have. Tonight I started up on them...finally! What I'd like to find on Taccomms is someone like me who loves going over lists and twiddling endlessly with stats. I'd love some suggestions as to what I should with these guys as, RIGHT NOW, I'm in the basing stage before I start painting them. I'd love some suggestions as to how to paint them so each detachment is characteristic. Were this your force, what would you do with it? It comprises 16 gretchin stands 36 ork warriors stands 6 big shoota stands 8 dudes with rockets on their back stands 8 commando stands 11 command stands 8 character stands 14 nob stands 6 trukk stands 16 rolley-tank-plastic-thingies tanks 6 little tanks tanks 6 rokkit shooting things 6 tanks-with-claws tanks 3 shokk attack guns 2 really big battlewagons 2 towers of those ork-weird-dudes 6 stompas 2 great gargants Do I have an E:A army? I KNOW I have over 8,0000pt of FWC troops, but do I have an E:A army? If there are any fellow configurators out there - you know who you are, like me, you spend hours twiddling about with army lists! - how do you think I should paint these bubs up? Alright, skin green....but thereonin? Oh and I do a single bomma of some sort but that's a 10mm Pendraken Ork flyer. I DO figure this is a warGAME though so I should be able to get away with it, right? LOL! That and I've JUST found 9 bikes and 9 boarboys - these are Epic figures, not 15mm or 10mm, promise! If you have a suggestion to make, I'm happy to name the army after you. After all, E:A isn't really my game but damn do I look the little buggers! PS why won't any of my picture upload?!? ![]() |

Thank you This is a great starting point as it lists the requirements in a point-and-click fashion At the moment I'm reading the NetEPIC army book as its descriptions of the unit types is sublime. Thanks for this link, what I'd like is propositions (including what I may be lacking) from CURRENT players of E:A But this is a great start, thanks ![]() S |

Hey Punkskum, Had a play around and game up with the below list. It's by no means an 'optimized' army, but it's fairly balanced for friendly games.
Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde (NetEA Compendium 1.0) ================================================== WARBAND [315] 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz, 2 Grotz, Battlefortress WARBAND (BIG) [350] 4 Nobz, 12 Boyz, 4 Grotz MEKBOY STOMPAMOB [225] 3 Stompa MEKBOY STOMPAMOB [225] 3 Stompa BLITZ BRIGADE [200] Oddboy, 4 Gunwagon BLITZ BRIGADE [200] Oddboy, 4 Gunwagon BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [250] 8 Gunwagon BLITZ BRIGADE [220] 6 Gunwagon STORMBOYZ WARHORDE [150] 6 Stormboyz GREAT GARGANT [850] I've used these:- 2 towers of those ork-weird-dudes to represent the Oddboyz in the blitz brigades. cheers Reedar |

Quote: PS does the first Warband ride IN the battlefortress? Yes it does mate. Although you could have it on foot, or in Battlewagonz as your available models allow. Another popular choice is to transport the mob (with an additional 2 Boyz & Grots or 2 Nobz) in a Landa as this forms quite a potent strike force. Cheers Reedar |

Right. Well, I made a start on them last night http://thestrategon.blogspot.com.au/ I don't think green-skinned Marines will quite work for me, I have Crimson Fists for that style of play. Hordes of expendable bike/buggy riding cannon fodder, that's more the look I had in mind for this project. But you're right, it IS an option and from what I've read it's quite effective, too. Just not in line with how I imagine Orks to behave - it's the exact strategy I use with my Marines, you see.... ![]() |

Just looked over on blog- great start to getting them assembled and undercoated. Saw your comments on painting yellow. Are you going to be painting Bad Moonz? Have you tried the GW Foundation paint "Iyanden Dark Sun"? My mate uses it for base coat over black primer for his W40K Orks- I have been meaning to try it on some Epic Orks. The GW Foundation paints have thicker pigmentation which means they go great over black primer without needing thick coat. I have used the Mechrite Red for my Epic Ork Evil Sunz and also use Calthan Brown or Tau Sept Ochre for my basing. I recommend these most highly. Cheers James |

Quote: Just looked over on blog- great start to getting them assembled and undercoated. Ditto. How are you getting on with the painting? Also, what sort of look are you going for? I've painted up a lot of Bad Moonz, although I prefer a dirtier look to my yellow; Basecoat Iyanden Darksun Layer of Golden Yellow Liberal wash with Ogryn Flesh Highlight(s) with Golden yellow/Sunburst yellow as desired. I find that works really well for me, but not if you're aiming for a nice 'clean' look. Cheers |
