I will try to share some list that I play and see how they work.

First one will be against marines. 2500 points. I have no further info on their list, all I know that in the previous game we fielded (it was a 2 vs 1 game. 2x1500 points vs 3000 points orks) 2 warhounds, 2 whirlwind squads, lots of terminators, no tactical marines

Now I will play the orks. I was thinking about speed freaks. First list draft:

SPEED FREAKS WARBAND (BIG) [420]
4 Nobz (trukk), 8 Buggy, 6 Boyz (trukk)

WARBIKE OUTRIDERS (BIG) [225]
10 Warbikes, Mekboy Bad Ork Bikeboy

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [335]
9 Gunwagon, Mekboy Speedsta

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [335]
9 Gunwagon, Mekboy Speedsta

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [335]
9 Gunwagon, Mekboy Speedsta

SPEED FREAKS WARBAND (BIG) [420]
4 Nobz (trukk), 8 Buggy, 6 Boyz (trukk)

BLITZ BRIGADE [270]
6 Gunwagon, Mekboy Speedsta

FIGHTA SQUADRON [150]
3 Fighta Bomba

I fear that I will have a lot of problems with the terminators...

Comments and ideas are appreciated.

This was the final list:

Burning Death Speed Freeks (White Dwarf 291)
==================================================

SPEED FREAKS WARBAND (BIG) [420]
4 Nobz (trukk), 4 Buggy, 6 Boyz (trukk), 4 Skorcha, Mekboy Bad Ork Bikeboy

WARBIKE OUTRIDERS (BIG) [225]
10 Warbikes

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [370]
8 Gunwagon, 2 Flakwagon, Mekboy Speedsta

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [370]
8 Gunwagon, 2 Flakwagon, Mekboy Speedsta

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [350]
4 Gunwagon, 4 Flakwagon, 2 Mekboy Speedsta

SPEED FREAKS WARBAND (BIG) [410]
3 Nobz (trukk), 4 Buggy, 7 Boyz (trukk), 4 Skorcha

BLITZ BRIGADE [150]
4 Gunwagon

FIGHTA SQUADRON [200]
4 Fighta Bomba

The enemy was a special marine list (serpens chapter) + some extra rules (different CC)
http://picasaweb.google.com/Bulba2/Serp ... directlink

2 formations of 4 whirlwinds, 2 formations of terminators + supreme commander, 4 LR prometheus , 2 Stormbirds

It was very close. The aircraft and the terminators went through me like knife through hot butter.

I went crazy with his lucky dice rolls. In one attack he needed to roll 5+ on 10d6. 5 were 6s, 4 were 5s and a lousy 2 for the last.

I forgot to put flakk gunz in the first formation thereby marking it a prime target. His termies killed the other warband and a blitz brigade.

My bikes finished one whirlwind formation and took the objective with another blitz brigade.

At the end all was left of me is a broken brigade, the bikes, the brigade holding the formation and 2 remaining tanks of the small blitz formation.

As the last move in the last round these two tanks made a triple move and contested an objective, bringing the win to the orks. If it was 2 cm further away, it would have been a win for the marines....

We did not finish last time but I still have problems hurting marines. The best I did was dropping a warband with a landa on the objective and managed to CC the marines to oblivion.

Today I am bit helpless. 3 way battle. orks, chaos and SM. 2000 points per side as we do not want to play a huge fight.

I did at least 6 lists so far. One with 3 landas. Not sure what to expect. Will need mobility and be able to at least contest objectives. Fighting chaos boys and marines face to face is not advised.

Was toying with the idea of a gargant too, but saw how the terminators butchered the chaos titan...

What would you field from 2000p?

at 2000 points i'd definitely not be taking a gargant thats for sure.
i'd try something with a bunch of skorchas and fighterbommas, or with a few long range shooters and landas and assault troops out the waazoo

Today I am fighting a 4k list against Baran Siege Masters + trenches, bunkers, fixed guns. I also expect at least 3 superheavy tanks...

I am thinking about fielding at least one gargant and 1-2 supastompas to bomb them with BMs. Krooza to soften the target.
Landas to drop units right behind enemy trench system, loads of skorchas to burn them in the bunkers.

The other option is to go orky and load lots of units in transports and charge them.

I still have 4 hours to think. Every time the points are just not enough...

one of the 5 lists I have done so far...

I hope he does not read this...

3995 POINTS
LANDA [200] + WARBAND [270] 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz, 2 Grotz, 2 Nobz
LANDA [200] + WARBAND [270] 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz, 2 Grotz, 2 Nobz
BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [250] - 8 Deth Kopta
KULT OF SPEED (BIG) [435] 16 Skorcha, Gunwagon, Oddboy
MEKBOY STOMPAMOB (BIG) [1090] 6 Stompa, 2 Supa Stompa, 2 Flakwagon, 2 Dreadnought
WARBAND (BIG) [630] 4 Nobz, 12 Boyz, 4 Grotz, 8 Battlewagon
GARGANT [650]

I have the same feeling. Baran will field a lot of infantry for sure. Flamers, melta bombs, indirect fire artillery etc.

First time I play against them, so I have to find out something "kunning" against them. I need more activations for sure.

I failed miserably with a slightly modified list. Made big errors. Shoud not have taken any stompas. Were shot to pieces by 3 shadowswords.

My CC group was shot to heaven by 2x9 artillery units before they even managed to move.

My landa arrived safely and the boys managed to rout 16 units in bunkers before they were broken in the same fight. Skorchas that arrived safe can do a LOT against infantry in bunkers. I hate Baran. :)

Next time more landas, more boys in transports, more aircraft. + Krooza to bomb some of them on round 1.

And I have to do triple move, not double to reach those artillery guys.

I gave up when the only active unit standing was the gargant.

I had 11 activations, he had 15.

I find that a maximum of 3 landas work, 4 (in 3000pts) and the army is not balanced. Big mobz of boys work. Double Skorchas into range and then engage with the big mob. Placement of objects is also important against Siege Masters. I usually go corner to corner and spread the objectives as far back as possible on the edges.

Yesterday I was experimenting with gun+battlefortresses

I must say a big warband loaded into 1 battlefortress and 2 zapp-gunfortresses is a real hitting power. Works well against LRs + predators mixed formation. And also against a death wheel. :)

Still have no idea how I could stop a formation of 2 decimators which deal out macro barrages. Tie them up with small formation as cannonfodder? They were just sitting next to the objective and shooting me to pieces...

DC3 was strong enough to make the delivery or I was lucky.

They moved across the battlefield, shot a deathweel and broke it, then in turn 3 doubled next to the objective, unloaded the boyz and broke a formation of 4 LRs and 4 or 6 predators.

Will try to use them again.

I speak only from a more competitive list building tradition and am highly influenced by the UK tournament scene Metagame but for what it's worth I would never take a Krooza (good for story driven games though), there's so many more things you could take on the ground for that price, and it's only a 1 turn activation.

A classic landa loadout it:

Landa+Warband+2 Boyz + 2 (free) Grotz.

You can take up to 4 casualties without it even counting towards the combat res and if you get the landa in combat can then take hits on it's 5+RA.

Take a look at: http://epic-uk.co.uk/ukepicachampionship/albyr.php

and you'll be able to see all the lists taken in each race at UK tourney's in the past several years :-)! Wonderful tool!

Sorry if competitive list building isn't what you're after but I do swing between the two: it's just a bit of a bummer having an army list which hampers your chance at victory all the time!

As an interesting aside it seems to be a general consensus (on these forums at least) that 9 is somewhat of a minimun number of activations to have at 3000pts, 8 can be seen but it's not entirely rare to see people manageing to ramp it up to 12-14 at times too!

This fortress formation is perhaps too expensive for a tournament. We were just playing a friendly game for 2500 points and it was nearly half my points... But I just had to try them. Never fielded fortresses before.

WARBAND (BIG) [985]
12 Boyz, 4 Grotz, 4 Nobz, Battlefortress, 2 Gunfortress (Supa-Zzap Odd Boy)

I wish there were enough people here in Budapest to start a tournament. Only 3 active players...
