ok: so i want to transport my Big mob in a feral ork army; at the moment the list i've got written out gives me 1 orkeasuar and the rest of the transport capactiy made up of 3 or 4 squiggoths; but wouldn't it just be better to take another orkeasuar? Depending on the army list version used it's either exactly the same points cost or a mere 25 extra! That's a war machine with 3 extra hits then 3 squiggoths, it's NOT a LV and i can safely carry all my boyz without fear or thier demise; am i missing something?!

Though the flak upgrade is better on dinosaurs.

And a Deathstrike Missile can potentially wipe out the Orkeosaur and all the Boyz inside in one go...

Don't 3 Squiggoths have better attacks on average in close combat against most troops though? - 3 normal attacks plus an average of 6 mega-weapon attacks versus the Orkeosaurus's 6 normal + an average of 2 mega-weapon attacks or 1 titan killer attack.

I'd missed the fact Squiggoths were light vehicles before, which I guess is a downside, but at least you could screen them with orks/grots on occasion against an expected mass on mega-weapon/titan-killer attacks, which wouldn't be an option with an Orkeosaurus.

As everyone's pointed out, the trade-off is the normal one in considering WE v normal unit.  WE's are more durable, but have less firepower for similar points.

For example, Battlefort v Battlewagons in the basic ork list (Make it 2 v 7 for the closest points comparison).  They carry about the same.  2xDC3, 4+ armor is more durable than 7x armor 5+, but 14 Big Shootas is more firepower than 8 + 2 big gunz.  Russ versus Baneblades is another example.

That said, my personal preferences is for the Orkeosaurus 2 out of 3 times.

Slightly off-topic (apologies), but in the Net-ERC Suggested 2008 Tournament Modifications, was it ever considered to give Squiggoths and Orkeosauruses the Walker ability and possibly even Fearless for the latter? Certainly Walker seems appropriate for both or was it considered enough of a boost to also then require a points increase which would have made it more trouble than it was worth?
