Dethkoptas?

I've just started orks and it's the first time I've properly thought about the main book's list and the units in it. Not that I'm getting much more than crossed eyes, though.

One thing I want to ask about (that I can't find here) is the dethkopta. On the face of it, they look like something for flanking, gaining crossfires and messing around with artillery. But are they much better than buggies for that? Bearing in mind I don't hear many good things about buggies.

The only other thing I can think of is shooty/blast marker support for stormboyz, though that doesn't sound spectacular either. Anything else? Any benefit in attaching them to more earthbound formations?

I was looking at these too, awhile back. Skimmers are super-fun, and I'd use them as a significant part of my objective-capturing force, as skimmers are so much more mobile that ground units.

As mentioned, skimmers can force any unit in base contact to use their FF value, and have a decent armor save of their own. I havent built an Ork list yet, but if and when I do, I plan on bringing a unit of these.

They're actually brilliant at this as up to six Deth Koptas can garrison with six Stormboyz... gets them right in the thick of things *fast*!
