Post subject:  Best list to cover traitor Guard
Hey guys,

What is the best list to cover traitor Guard? Initial guess would be Lost & Damned but with redux removing Guard elements completely, it looks like a bad bet.
Points are also a bit off regarding Guard'ish Upgrades (eg. 35pts per Griffon not 50 per squad of three) with LaD.

Basically I would like to play Guard + Daemons - Things + allied Chaos Marines. Any ideas? Open to any army pack (NetEA, E-UK, E-FR,..)

in addition I've heard rumours of EpicUK working on a traitor guard list, but nothing concrete has appeared as far as I'm aware

The original LatD is still an option for including guards elements as well. I still think the 1:1 ratio makes even Guards elements restricted. I think you could squeeze in 5 support formations, but you would want at least 3-4 of them to be scouts and aircraft.

Vraks Traitors 1.06 has no Daemons and is basically Guard on steroids. (Boohoo I am missing shadowswords, luckily I have Leman Russ look a likes which can garrisson and all those ini 1+ units)

The Malcadors have their downsides, too. :-)

If Vraks had limited daemons (maybe just a teleporting daemon formation in the 1/3 Allies section, to skip the summoning rules) it would be the perfect traitor guard list.

Not getting "guards on steroids" is part of the challenge when making Traitor Guard.

I did write this army list once, which has that, more or less.

Never published it... UNTIL NOW! (dum dum daaaah)



- S'got a special rule the makes retaining the initiative harder (purged officer class) to stop it becoming UltraGuard
- Has a scattering of Chaos assets in the Allies section (including Aircraft, Daemons and Alpha Legion, which is also the only Supreme Commander available to the army)
- Chaos Psykers acting as locus for the Daemonic Pacts (4 in a normal 3k game), meaning you can actually kill off the Daemonic Pact summoning ability if you can kill the Psyker unit(s)
- Armoured Fist Company as a support formation rather than Core.
- No SHT's.
- Did I mention Chaos Psykers?! They're cool!

Griffin upgrade isn't as off as you'd think, one Griffin for 35pts is pretty good value as you can add it to a Coven, Garrison out of LoS and fire AP5 AT5 indirect barrage from T1; 235pts and a core choice!

Granted, the cost of any more than one Griffin used in any other fashion other than what's described is ludicrous!

What does the "Fire Support Unit" consist of for the upgrades on that Traitor list.
