Presently writing up a v0.1 for the DG reboot, in the past there has been lots of discussion about representing Plague/Nurgle Marines

To expand on the options
-Fearless Plague Marines - the standard fearless 3+ save 4+FF+CC no shooting Cult Marine, Havocs and other options

- DG Chaos Marines with Fearless Plague Marine Upgrade Option - a standard CSM with INV or similar as base troop, then option to upgrade them to Fearless Plague Marines in Option 1

- New Plague Marine stats - Indomitable or similar. Stating up a new unit with something to represent Nurgleness

- Something else

I'd go with 3 just to break the deadlock :)

I voted 2, mainly from an opponent's view. An all Fearless army is very frustrating to play against, it should be restricted to elites and titans in my opinion. Given Nurgle's good saves, formations become very resilient to both shooting and assault.

All Fearless can work, in a more fragile list that is properly costed or in an army list with small expensive formations that is very restrictive on number of activations.

I voted for option one as according to lexicanum almost all death guard marines are plague marines..... I also like the EUK list with core fearless formations.... just gives the list that trudging army of doom feel IMO :D

If any chaos marines should be fearless probably it is death guard who are "dead and dying" anyway, and if other faction lists have it so should they. Agree with the fact that all fearless armies can be annoying to face though. I haven't voted because I'm unsure what the best decision is, but leaning towards option 1.

I picked option 2, but why can't we have both? pick 6 death guard or 6 plague marines for the formation.

That pretty much is option 2

not at all. i want to have a choice. not pay for one, then pay more to upgrade them to another.

I buy 6 non fearless DG marines for 250pts, upgrade them all to fearless plague marines for 25pts each so pay 400 for them.

is surely the same as choose 6 DG for 250 or 6 plague for 400?

I went for Option 1 purely for fluff reasons rather than gameplay.

ALL Death Guard are Plague Marines and so if doing a Death Guard list, then the rules should reflect the fluff.

it would be different if just doibg amore generic Nurgle list, when you would have mixture of Nurgle marked CSM and smattering of Plague Marines. But arguably that sort if force would ge better represented by Black Legion list with a Nurgle bias.

I voted option 1 for fluff and because I'm sure if the list is all Fearless that the list can be written to curtail the awesomeness of that ability i.e no marching or expensive formations etc.

I also voted option 1 for fluffness sake.

Yeah and perhaps somekind of only one-withdrawal-move-only-rule. Like what I tired to achieve in my Ne(w)crons list with ponderous. It's sometimes annoying with fearless units "falling forward"/gaining advantage when broken, I feel it should probably be restricted if most of an army is fearless.

Is it worth looking at the Squat Stubborn rule?
