Well, technically (pun intended), I thought this list would rid all IG elements, not all "human" stuff. I like the unit and it is thematic. Naming is an open issue, I presume, and I guess suggestions are welcome. Right?


in line with current GW naming conventions, I propose the following totally serious suggestions:

SKY TALON
BANE CLAW
AIR SHREDDER
SKULL PIERCER
BLOODSKULL
IMPALED SKY
DEATH B*STARD

Had a playtest game last thursday against Kyuss' Eldar, with a view to testing Plague Towers at 15cm move, rather than 20cm.

I won't bother posting a batrep, as I spectacularly failed to activate 6 formations in a row turn one (first 8 dicerolls by myself were seven 1s, followed by a 2) and a similar number turn 2, meaning the game was a fairly one sided slaughter (5-0 to Eldar turn three in case anyone was wondering).

My list contained 2 Covens with attached Plague Towers, and twice in the first two turns I could have assaulted and once doubled to support fire if the Towers move had been 20cm, but not at 15cm. It's only one game, but 15cm move feels really slow and ponderous; maybe apropriate for a big Nurgle war engine but very limiting for what is really a mainly CC assaulting formation. I'll have another go in a hopefully less silly game, but I have a very busy couple of months so no one hold their breath.

Anyone else wanting to test Plague Tower Covens @15cm move would be very welcome.

On the question of the AA light vehicle added by myself, names like SKY TALON et al are standardised names given by military organisations to military units, and the Lost and the Damned are anything but. They're a civilian uprising led by a charasmatic rebel who have used chaos worship to compensate for their lack of military training or equipment; their transport is called "land Transporter" and are converted flatbed trucks and other civilian vehicles, their infantry are armed either with "heavy weapons" or "assorted weapons".

They don't have standardised equipment or vehicles and so their bodged together AA vehicle wouldn't have a standardised name. A google search for "technical vehicle" will provide many pictures like this:

and descriptions like:

"A technical is a type of improvised fighting vehicle, typically a civilian or military non-combat vehicle, modified to provide an offensive capability similar to a military gun truck. It is usually an open-backed civilian pickup truck or four-wheel drive vehicle mounting a machine gun, light anti-aircraft gun, anti-tank weapon, or other support weapon."

If a name change really is needed (and I am of the opinion that it does not), then it would need changing to something generic like "AA Land Vehicle" to fit with the flavor of the existing names.

Yep. Go with technical and let it be. If there are still wargamers that are unaware of the term out there, then so be it. You could call it Hilux...

The greater daemon that replaces the demagogue retains supreme commander rule. He has probably been in charge for some time anyway.

Also...
The guardsmen crawled forward in the dust, moving up to the rim of the crater. Their squad leader snuck a quick look above the crater rim, trying to get a look at the enemy deployed in the valley below. Ragtag knots of modified civilian vehicles were scattered across the valley floor, their projectile weapons pointing up at the sky as their crews scanned for navy aircraft.
The squad leader returned to his unit with a bitter look on his scarred face.
"What is it?" asked one of the men.
"Death B@stards" he spat. "We're in trouble."

3k Game vs. Adeptus Astartes went well. 2-0 to Cultists in 4th round. Held all three objectives plus two of the opponents.
