I find myself very much admiring the cost and speed of adding some Raptors to my Black Legion list, but don't love the idea of using Imperial Assault Marines for the task. Plus I'm ter-ri-ble at converting 6mm (and my "friends" are likely to chime in that applies to 28mm and up) miniatures.

So, advice and ideas welcomed.

Another option is to use standard space marine assault troopers. I've tried this with my Death Guard army and am happy with the results.

This is what I did. A couple of weapon changes and added wings helps a lot (the wings are from Warhammer Grave Guard helmets and Epic Eldar miniatures).

"Scuttlebutt"? I didn't know infantrymen were allowed to use naval terms, L4 :P

My understanding is that they're kind of free-lancers now, so any and all would be acceptable. In one of the early Heresy books, Raptors were in either the BL or Emperor's Children, and since both have Slaanesh elements, and the BL is undivided, sounds like enough justification for me. They sound a bit out of character with death guard though.

Jump Packs were far from standard issue in the days of the Heresy. I believe those that got them and subsequently turned to chaos formed their own warbands/cliques within other warbands. From what I read Night Lords and Raven Guard definitely had jump packs, there might have been a few others but I can't remember specifics.

Good intel, works for me !! I'll use them with my Tzeentch & Iron Warriors CSMs ... And yes, I'm a Grad of Basic Amphib Training at Little Creek NAB ... so I guess I can use USN terms ... :P

I remember the Luna Wolfs had some Jump Pack from the one of the first few HH Novels.
