Hi all

In balancing the World Eater list, we came across the Warhound and decided to give it a small daemonic boost. In this respect, we have decided that the Vulcan Mega Bolter was to take on a new profile.

Now it is still a Vulcan Megabolter, with less shots and a higher 'to-hit' target while gaining the benefit of the 'Dirupt' ability.

I was asked to give it a Khorne name so I decided on Khorne Megabolter. This produced a disappointed and 'don't waste my time' type of look from Morgan, so I guess he was not happy with such a simple name. So I am now going to these lists to get some ideas.

So far the other Titans have their own unique weapons:

Banelord has the Doomfist
Ravager has the Doomburner

Now I would rather stay away from the whole 'Doom' name so does anyone else out there have any ideas on a name for the variation on the daemon effected Vulcan Mega Bolter?

Have you got a copy of the old SM/TL era Renegades book or the TL rulebooks? I don't anymore but they had a selection of mostly Khornate titan weapons in.

I'd rather see it use the standard Megabolter TBH, the proliferation of different weapons on Chaos Titans is starting to get extreme.

Alternatively if you do want a variant name, "Hephaestus Megabolter" might be cool. Hephaestus was the Greek god of fire, whilst Vulcan was the Roman god of fire.

I did have it as the standard Warhound however it was priced at 300 points.

We figured that it's standard fit-out (a normal Warhound) with a Stratergy Rating of 4+ and the ability to only be able to take it as a unit of 1 gave it an effective cost of 265 points.

Hence the addition of the disrupt and the adjustment of the rate of fire to justify the extra 10 points.

I understand the reasoning behind not changing or adding to the weapon types currently available, however do you have any further advise on any of the above?

If you see it as being worth 265pts, rounding it off to 275pts isn't all that here-or-there.

After all, 10 points is just 0.33% of your typical 3000pt army list, or 3.6% of 275pts.


Incidentally, price isn't just to be based upon Strategy Rating, but also a unit's worth in the context of the other units available in the army list.


The other option is simply to set its price at 265pts and accept a non 25pt division, something Chaos armies already have anyway!

...as opposed to a screaming daemon enslaved in each ammo round of the Mega Bolter?

I just do not think that an ability such as 'Disrupt' should be only relegated to Slaanesh for Chaos.

Nurgle seems to be more in favour of Ignore Cover  :laugh:

Anyway what about Daemon Mega-bolter or Daemon Warp-bolter?

Thanks everyone for your help so far with the name and general opinions. It all does help with making an informed decision.
