Time to give the new Chaos Vindicator option a try, I´ve had my old Vindies painted up with skull runes on the side hatches for years... plus it´s time to field the Stalker.

I am also keen to test a variantof the Decimator-Spam, namely single Decimators with attached Desecrator for AA, seems a good package. To expand on the theme, I´ll add a Decimator-Desecrator-Defiler formation, I´m interested to see whether this can be a usable combo. One BL Ret for the DP-Warlord, Bike Coy for exploitation of breakthroughs, hopefully engaging with armour (Vindicators!)in support. FH to guard the Blitz.

Tactics: Retinue on garrison and overwatch, ready to double into enemy territory in T1 to create a threat, double/march the rest into positions for the big bang in T2. Keep large armour formation back for as long as possible to avoid BM.

Tactics: Garrison not too close to the enemy with the Inf Coys, hold the line, grind them down. Vultures (once the missiles are away), Roughriders and Sentinels for flanking.

I guess you use the fixed number of Commissars suggestion. As far as I recall that didn't make it into the NetEA minimal fix list.

I think the fixed Commissars @ 1 per 500 is one of the most sensible changes imaginable.

I see you have 3x pacts and Daemons, so which faction(s) do you intend to use.

Also, since you have included Vindies in the armoured companies, would it be sensible to swap the preds and a vindi for 2x Defilers to get long range shooting, and better assault stats  for a slight drop in speed, which you have already done though using the Vindies? All round that seems a 'steal' for 25 points over the stats of the Preds even at 2 for 3.

The swap would cost me a tank (cut a Pred for 50 points to upgrade 2 others to Defilers) and also reduce speed by 5cm, since the NetEA min-Change did increase Vindies to 25cm move.

I don´t think its worth it.

Hmm - good spot on the increase in Vindi speed. However, you do get infiltrate, which negates that to some extent (so perhaps is slightly better than the Desecrator in an armoured formation)

I agree, after some thought, that an Armoured Coy tooled for engage actions is a nifty idea.
Something along the line of:

4 Vindicators
1 Stalker
2 Defilers
1 Desecrator

Useful AA, good range, infiltrate MWCC all-armoured assault formation. Somewhat slow at 20cm, but for sheer novelty ... I´m tempted!  :evil:

Maybe go all-Defiler?

Given you have the stalker for point defence against Air, all Defiler looks a tempting option to give the formation extra 'bite' when clipping.

Another, slightly more aesoteric option would be an armoured AA formation with a mix of Preds and Land Raiders and 3x Desecrators. Parked in the middle of the table it will command the skies (until shot to bits) when the Fearless Desecrators can still hang around to contest objectives.

Another interesting idea.

Anyway, the all-armoured assault formation has proven irresistible and I have incorporated it into the list, modifying the larger Armoured Coy accordingly and all-Defiler while putting the extra 25 points into another LD. Thanks for the inspiration!

That would be somewhat few fragments if I had my way...

Anyhow, it´s going to be a bloody battle, that IG list is about as competetive as they come IMO, though one could replace an Inf Coy and either Rough Riders or T-Bolts for a Reg HQ + Hydra to get the reroll...

I would always pay the extra points for a Supreme Commander for Guard.
