Just looking at the new stats for the Obliterators. I almost never took them in CSM Retinues due to the cost and now that they aren't as good and even more expensive there is no way I can see ever adding them.

Wow 3rd Topic about Obliterators.

But yes now they seem overpriced.

I'm with PG here, they seem to be almost as bad as Dreadnoughts. They have a better CC attack, a 20% better FF attack, but not much else.

Maybe AA6+ and allowed back for chosen?

Or.. I'd prefer cheap oblits, allow them back for Termies and cheaper airplanes!

Maybe I'm being overly cautious. How cheap would they have to be before you'd even consider them?

I would suggest that we either change the stats or change the price but doing both at the same time seems like too much

To answer your question I think that at these stats that 65 is a good place to start

I'd say they're worth about 70ish points currently.

The comparison is a chosen is it not?

Move - Same
Armour - Better, (invulnerable save)
Firepower - Twice? as good
FF - Better
CC - Worse
Other - Fearless, can't be mechanised

Something to bear in mind - these will be very hard to balance vis a vee Chosen. They are essentially hard terminators with their current stats. So with chosen at x, how much more would oblits be? Maybe they are best barred from Chosen formations to make that easier!

Currently as Chosen are a charge formation the FF isn't as useful as CC, but good if you lose the initiative and the enemy can't just shoot you. The fearless means they join the DP running around after a bad assault. They are something of a liability for other infantry unless they are a foot slogging one.

It strikes me odd not to be able to put Oblis with Chosen... Why would they not use their ability to teleport?

Perfect oblis:
Tellyporta with chosen
No AA
