There's currently a discussion on the Warmania (French) forum regarding the differences between the summoning of daemons in the BL list and the L&D list.

The 3.4.1 version of the L&D list reads:

"Summoned units remain on the battlefield until the end phase of the turn in which they are summoned. In the end of the rally phase, after formations have attempted to rally, all summoned units in the formation are removed from the board and placed back into the Daemon Pool unless the formation has a unit with Daemonic Focus."

While the 3.7 version of the BL list goes like this:

Summoned units remain on the battlefield until the
end phase of the turn in which they are summoned.
In the rally phase, after a formation has attempted to rally, all summoned units in the formation vanish back to the warp and are removed from play unless the formation has a unit with Daemonic Focus (see LD 1.1.5 below). Summoned units that are removed from play are not put back into the Daemon Pool.

Why the difference? To my knowledge, both versions are the latest available versions.

The LatD write up is the "most" recent.

The Black Legion list hasn't been updated since the last LatD update so it's lagging behind.

Yep.  L&D is the definitive.  BL has not been updated in the vault (though I think Andy and Jervis have updated versions).

Daemons not retained by a Focus do return to the daemon pool.  Note that daemons killed or lost upon breaking do not go back to the pool

The reason this was changed was to try to mediate the "daemon shield" tactic.  It was simply better than other applications of summoning.

The shield requires keeping the daemons on the board as much as possible, otherwise they are not shielding the formation.  OTOH, the short term swarm summon does not.  Since we couldn't downgrade the caemon shield without also affecting the the other tactics, the only solution was to upgrade the other tactics in a way that would not benefit the daemon shield.

Allowing daemons to return to the pool doesn't help the daemon shield because the tactic can't afford to drop the daemons but it does help other short-term uses of daemons.  So, we included it and boosted the price of daemons accordingly.

So what changes were made from BL 3.7 to the version sent to SG?
