Yup. I'm going to convert some old IG assault troops into Raptors. I figured it'll be easy enough to make a few weapon swaps for some variation. The heads can be used as they are or reworked with a bit of GS but I haven't quite decided if I want to bother.

I agree that the CAv Spider is probably the best starting point for a Defiler conversion. Add bitz from a Rhino chassis for the main body, claws from old battlewagons or possibly even some 40k Ork Nob powerfists (although fairlylarge) and some weapons.
