I found with salamanders that you needed extra resilance in the transport formations for the troops, otherwise they lose a rhino and either slow down or abandon troops. I got it by having - for tacticals say - 3 rhinos then adding up to two other vehicles, typically a hunter and a land raider, which did not subtract a rhino.

Maybe you need something similar, either the upgrade being Rhinos then a separate upgrade for Land Raiders. Or several fixed formations.

Say the following formations which can then take upgrades
4 Berserkers + 2 Rhinos + 1 Land Raider + 1 Predator
6 Berserkers + 2 Dreadnaughts + Dreadclaw, (drop formation)
8 Berserkers (foot formation)

Okay so you might not like the numbers :) 8 is a magic number don't you know!

Interesting ideas about the transports. It is a problem with alot of armies, however these guys also get other options to take the hits such as assault walkers, predators and dreads so I am not that concerned with the rhinos being the target to slow the unit down.

I would envision Dreadclaws for people that want these in CC early. Otherwise, the potential to garrison or maneuvour to gain an objective is how I see these individuals.

What I am concerned with is getting the costing right. Anyone able to give an opinion on whether 225 points for 6 + 25 for each one after to a max of 8 appears correct?

Thanks for your assistance TRC   :agree:

I think that 25pts for each extra stand is too cheap, that what orks are, but these states are way better then orks.

Yes but the initial cost of 6 for 225 are paying the extra points. So in effect, it is the standard 8 for 275 points with the option to take it as a squad of 6-8 units.

It does appear cheap, but you cannot get them for 25 points each (for a maximum of 2 more) without spending the 225 points. In reality, a squad of 8 is worth just over 34 points per model.

So explained as above, what do you think?

Also, do not compare to other forces such as orks. They have to be compared to other Chaos Forces (Black Legion as an example) to gain a fair rating

I have been doing some more 'brainstorming' on this and want to gauge people's reaction to this idea.

Instead of changing the whole fearless thing, introduce a non-fearless unit to the list. This would encorage the player to look at alternative options for more activations.

It however doesn't prevent the army from being fearless if wanted. That is a problem. Again in my Nurgle suggestion the main formation was 4 stubborn, 3 fearless units. So entire army could not be fearless even though all formation could have fearless section.

The Post Skalathrax list will prevent an all Fearless army. I will try and get this out this weekend for review. I just need to divide the two lists now as everything is in the one list which is too much.

The Post Heresy list may remain a majority Fearless list. We will see how we go after I get the lists done.

Cheers...
