PG:  40K scale GREATER daemons as battle titan-sized WEs, not lesser daemons.  They come one to a box, just like titans.

Ah... sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'll see if anyone here has one I can use for size comparisions

Please note that the mini suggestions I listed are simply those that I am thinking of aiming to use to help guide the development of the list. I want to aim to have a list that people can buy and use without having to hit eBay for things.

People should be free to use whatever minis they have from whatever versions as long as it is clear what the minis are and that they are on legal bases.

Surely spawn could be scratchbuild considering the random nature of them?

No spawn in the Chaos Daemon codex (at least that I could see). I was curious about that myself but I guess that the reason is that they come from mortal sources.

Chaos Spawn are mortals who have mutated into daemonic creatures, not proper daemons themselves.

This list should be able to add some mortals though, to serve as hosts and sacrifices, ie when you Teleport you can sacrifice a Cultist to prevent a BM, perhaps.

I also think 3 wraithgates is far too good unless they cost 200 points each.

No, you're right in a sense - they're not there as a unit/choice on their own, but rather as the result of a ranged shooting weapon that turns opposing miniatures to Spawn!  So, you could justify formations of spawn, or supporting units attached to other formations, on the grounds that they are woeful, mindless denizens of the warp that aimlessly follow the Daemonic Legions from their realm when they march to war (there's a similar fluff reason for Furies in the Daemon Codex).

Personally, I'm one of the people who wants to have Spawn just for the opportunity to convert random gribblies in my armies!    I'm going to do some for a planned L&tD army, so I'd be able to carry them across; I'm sure other L&tD players would like to do the same.

I like it in general. Some nice ideas.

If the warp rifts present a problem, it could just be the baseline objective that's the warp rift.

Or the warp rifts could present some kind of bonus to teleporting.

I would definately recommend some true daemon engines. The 40K fluff has plenty of meat to the Soulgrinder, and the background suggests some monsterous variations on the theme. These could also be used to present AA or large War Engines.

The 40K daemon army has the mechanic that you have to divide up your army into two halves with equal numbers of units. Then, turn 1, you roll a D6 and on a 3+ you get to deploy the half you want on turn one, the rest comes in piecemeal over the rest of the game teleporting. On a 1 or a 2, the other half comes on. Perhaps a similar mechanic could prevent a first-turn overwhelm of the enemy's army?

The other thing I was going to suggest would be formations of greater daemons.

Maybe we should be a little bit conservative in the designing. The all teleporting named daemon list is not what I had in mind. I thought about waves over waves of daemon, with special abilities and maybe some extra rules but not a complete insane redesign or use of special abilities.....

Blood Thirster Bloodbath!

8 teleporting Thirsters is prolly too many, especially at 100points each. But 3 Greater Daemons would be pretty brutal.

If you're going for Special Characters, there's an Apocalypse formation of 8 Bloodthirsters plus Angron the Khornate Primarch.  :))

Maybe spawn could be the result of an attack then? Or getting a critical on an enemy warengine?

See, now, that's just the kind of thing that makes me think "Wow, I'm glad I don't have to face a 14 year old kid with delusions of grandeur trying to fulfill his power fantasies across the game table."

ick.  :p

*Looks up guiltily from plans to make 40K-scale Fulgrim*

What? What's wrong with delusional power fantasies?

Maybe we should be a little bit conservative in the designing. The all teleporting named daemon list is not what I had in mind.

The daemons have to get onto the table in some fashion. Teleporting and warp rifts seem in character. Having them walk onto the table isn't very daemon-like

The Daemonic Construct will offer all sorts of DIY options especially since there will be three variants of it to build.
