When I play my BL army my opponents almost always have good anti-WE formations

Do your opponents know who they're playing beforehand, and tailor their list accordingly, or is there just a preponderance of anti-WE in your area?

I'm edging into believing that Shadowswords should go up a little in price (Split them from Baneblades), but that's a whole different discussion.

Ignore Cover and Disrupt is easily as ugly. Instead of killing units you are placing enough BMs to break the formation in one shot

It is still nasty but not as much as MW/IC.  I think the important point is that the unit is still on the board.  A kill (via MW) moves the unit 2 "notches" closer to breaking - lose one unit, gain one BM.  A disrupt BM only moves the unit 1 closer for the BM.

I'd say it depends on how much you want to downgrade them.  Personally, I think they only need modest changes, so MW/IC to IC/Disrupt might be enough for the Decimator and could leave the Feral as MW-only.

Well if your army list had a Shadowsword in it why wouldn't you take it? its far too useful a unit. Same with the Eldar Scorpion.

Maybe we all like WEs up here but they get used a lot and we tend to assume that there will be Titans and WEs on the table and build to defend against that.

I took a Baneblade to the FSA tournament (Rulebook rules & Chaos lists only, no upgunned 'blade for me). :D

Okay I also had one Shadowsword, but I'm of the firm opinion that all units should be balanced and properly costed, so if a unit is too cheap or too powerful, I'm happy to help hit it with the Balance stick until it's fixed.

Seeing as the Decimator is the big cannon, and the feral is the flamethrower, surely the decimator should keep MW and the feral chance to IC? Seems counter intuitive to do it the other way

I'm not sure that the Decimator has ever been defined beyond 'proto-Baneblade'?

On the other hand, a Plaguereaper is definitely an ignore cover kind of tank.

I think more of a proto-shadowsword but it is indeed just an idea that Jervis had that hasn't been polished that much

It is an old pattern of SHT that Abbadon stole and is using. Its no longer in production on any Imperial world

The Feral count reminds me on the thing we had with the Marines while they took 4 Warhounds. Most lists here take 3 Ferals (which are awful MUCH better), but nobody cries about them, despite the MW templates etc?

I am wondering to be honest.

Nobody cries about the ferals? Not true, I've never been happy with them.

As you've said, Ferals are a no brainer atm, everyone takes as many as they can. They're just too good for the points. Lose the macro ASAP.

2-3 has been quite mandatory load of Ferals and 2 lone Decimators, then macrobarrage your enemy back to stone age. Fast macrobarrage is too good not to take.

Why not just replace Feral with Chaos Warhound? Maybe give him 2 optional weapon configurations?

Honestly, I never understood why using Khorne dedicated titans for a Black Legion army...It would make more sense to use "plain" Chaos Warhounds, Reavers and Warlords. Just use for those the same as the Imperium, it's much much simpler that way (as well for the tests).

Regarding Ferals and specifically the FXF Battle head in assaults, how do people find this working? What problems does it cause?

While "apparently "Fluffy", this works outside the normal assault mechanics that do not recognise fighting arcs as such - is this a good thing to be used elsewhere, or an unwanted layer of complexity that should be replaced?
