Well, that's more of an issue with Black Legion than LatD.
I still think Daemons should disappear/be immune to hack-downs (and that's all giving them fearless would do, as they'd still disappear when their parent formation breaks) as I see it as more plausible that the Daemons would leave their mortal followers to be slaughtered than stick around.
In fact, it seems to be a variation on the "Daemon Shield" effect against shooting, that we really worked to diminish, raising its ugly head again. | I'm with you here.
100% actually.

It's never been the idea of a daemon shield that was a problem. CSMs using daemons as attrition troops is canon and should definitely be a viable tactic. It was only "diminished" to the extent it needed to be kept in the same power range as other uses.
If there are objections based on balance, lay them out.
As it is, I think daemons are borderline nerfed. Their net cost is in the ~30 point range and for general utility I would prefer another CSM stand or 2 cultist stands over a daemon in most situations.

NH,
Probably too early to say whether is problematic or not.
I'd say since several were playing it another way, it at least deserves some clarification in the rule.
Let the masses playtest it with clear language, reassess as needed.
For now, its more shock/surpise factor than anything else for me personally.
Cheers,
