Hi all, it's here! The shiny hardbound bok is here - rules are short, the artwork stunning. Time to look around me and take stock: 1 - I bought the book after I visited the FW site once too many 2 - I like the idea of small forces, as I might get to finish these 3 - check aircraft in stock (none with the new bases, as yet): CATEGORY 1 - RULES AVAILABLE COMPLETE: 4 x Imperial Thunderbolts, built in support for the Squatachans. 2 x Thunderfire AA (can be used as Imperial AA) 1 x Eldar Phoenix INCOMPLETE: 3 Fightabommas some old Phoenix and Nightwings
CATEGORY 2 - RULES INEXISTENT (and here the fun begins!) COMPLETE: 1 SM Lander 1 Megabomma 2 Silver Towers of Tzeentch 2 Warp palaces of Tzeentch 1 Harridan 2 Ork Koptas 1 Tau heavy transporter 1 Tau Stingwing Dropship 1 Squat Overlord Several box Thunderbricks!
INCOMPLETE: a small pile of Tzeentch fliers 1 Ork Landa 1 more Squat Overlord 3 Squat Iron Eagles Dozens of ideas for conversions!
So - where to begin? I'm tempted to add the Thunderbricks to the Squats and creat a Squat Air Force - but I think I'll leave that to those more into rules than myself, as I'd make a right cat's ear infested with mites of it.
Since I'm feeling very Chaosy, and have preordered some troops, and have ideas for conversions... maybe....
As for rules, I'll play it simple and go for counts as. Perhaps borrowing profiles from other races to cover ships different in style from the current Chaos ships - nothing to use as a Tzeentch Firestorm, for example. And I'd like to add CSM transports and a large Manta-sized beastie....

Decisions have been taken - very typically for a GW game, my first choice of force is confirmed as Chaos - this has happened in all cases barring Warmaster, were my small demon army was only the third (and last, so far) I bought.
That said, I felt the Chaos list was too small, so I'll be using the Chaos list with an LATD list - that is, the Imperial list without any modifications! I hope to use either real Imperial models, or converted Chaos equivalents (or the olde rChaos flyers of Tzeentch) with the counts as rule. I'll also add the SM list, although in this case I'll only use different modles basing on counts as. ANd if I'm tempted to do a large model, the Tau Manta rules will come into play as well - again with counts as models. For a (personal) change, I might be basing my colour schemes on the Steel Legion, for the simple reason that it's the ony scheme I can see how to modify for the flavoured powers without resorting to my usual dark, gloomy schemes.

My Chaos are similar. Hell Blades and Hell Talons, supplimented by Traitor Thunderbolts and Traitor Marauders - no Lightnings... and probably no Valkyries (although I really like the models).
A couple of Marauders may also make it into my Ork squadrons...

Oh yes, I agree, no Lightnings.
