It will be up to the individual store, and come down to a lot of factors. Our store gets so many people in for games nights that the tables will probably will be kept for the main games, but they will probably have no problem people playing them in the gaming room on week days,

My local store manager has already said no.  Using the same reason that he says no to any SG game.  That it will distract the other players, then he and his staff will be asked loads of questions about a game they know nothing about.

Still isn't going to stop me form taking in my stuff this week, just to show some other vets who are interested in it.

That is sad ... ask the question if flyers are allowed in pick up games of 40k ... then use the Epic scale mini... or play 40k with Epic minis muh ha ha (years ago there was a WD editorial about just that! sadly I do not have the WD anymore it was stolen)

i would love to see that article, and SG are looked on with distain in most stores... but at least im playing epic, some of the staff like it so the manager seems to have let it slide...

I wonder if they would allow the game to be played with 40K aircraft...?

It seems so odd to me that it's the UK GW stores taht seem to be the most hostile to SG stuff.  Most of the sotres in the US are highly supportive of the SG games.  In my local store it was commonplace to see SG games played even on the Friday Night Game Nights when space was at a premium.  Basically, as long as GW or a subsidiary made it, tables were first-come, first-served.

Rumor has it that the US Battle Bunkers are coordinating a 2-day, 4000-point Epic tournament in April, but I don't have details yet.

I could be wrong but IIRC Andy replied in some thread on the SG board that people who were forbidden to play SG games in GW stores should drop him a mail and he'd have a talk with the store. ...Or was it just wishfull thinking? ????

Anyway AI is a FW game so it might not apply there.

I suspect its the latter which causes them angst - they dont want to get caught out and look stupid.

That plus the SG games are not on the shelf for the fanboys to go buy immediately.

This attitude is typical of all GW stores world-wide, and I've tried a few! Some of the staff's eyes really light up if you mention BFG or Space Hulk, but not too many anymore.

How GW incentivize managers no doubt has something to do with it.  If referrals to online sales don?t get them anything, it?s little surprise they might be hostile to hosting games which distract from the selling activities that do reward them.  The looking stupid thing no doubt comes into it but if they actually got something from an SG sale then I?m sure more managers might put the effort into learning about the games.

Well the managers can order the game for those interested.  It saves the buyer shipping and handling and the manager gets his kudos, but then again they may not even realize the game exist until you ask the question.

I must be really lucky then as all the staff at my local GW play one or more specialist game, and one Vet night just before Xmas if 2 of use hadn't been playing Epic the store would have been empty!

Guess its luck of the draw really. However as the staff are result driven from above I can sort of understand why they would want more FB or 40K players as they can at least impulse buy while they wait for a table!

Got a gmae in day at my local store.   .  Well by me I mean two of the younger regulars  :( .

I got my AI stuff out for them to look at and then talked them though a simple one on one dog fight.  Got a small crowd watching as well.  With several showing interest in getting their own squadrons.

Turns out I can play SG and FW games at my local store if the staff don't know what I am doing   .

We also meta gamed using a manta, and realised the only "easy" way to kill one is to wait for it to land then get a marauder with extra bombs to do a low level bombing run over it.
