Post subject: | General Question about AI |
Hi, I have been buying a lot of Epic air units lately and I'm a wondering if I should mount them on the AI bases. I have the AI book, it's cool and all, but reading the book doesn't tell ou how good the game is. The lack of "buzz" about AI is noticeable as well. Personally I don't like bases with counters and I'd like to model scenic bases for my aircraft, but there is a part of me that feels I would be wasting something if I didn't take advantage of them and my AI book. I guess what I want to know is how would you guys rate AI on a scale of 1-10? Is it a fun distraction from time to time, or is it a totally engrossing activity? thanks ![]() |

If you can get some regular opponents, it's a ten |

HI! Definite 10 imo! I see AI as a fun game for in-between, which is challenging and fun to play because of how manoeuver cards work. The scenarios are really cool, and inspired my to do some terrain. So all in all - if you've got some regular opponents, go for it. BTW: if you don't glue the plane to the plastic (or whatever material you're using) rod, then you can make multiple bases. That's what i'd do - use some painted small flying bases for epic, and the AI bases for AI. not really a problem! ![]() bg, |

It is good for quick pick-up games, but for me it doesnt have the staying power of other games. You could fix the aircraft to the base post, but not fix the post to the base foot itself. This would probably be more stable. Also, you dont have to use the bases to play AI, it just makes it easier. There is no reason why you cant just place counters next to the aircraft instead of using the base clicks, or keep track of speed and altitude on a reference sheet. |

Only played it once so not adding comments about the game, though it seems like a fun and simple system. Would say though that you could also use those little neodymium (sp!) magnets to swap between different bases- say the 3mm wide by 1 mm deep ones? Seem to give enough stick but easily swapped over. hth m |

You could also get cheap jewelry clasps that screw together, that's what I mount my aircraft with, makes it much easier to store them as well as there a lot less chance of snapping. |
