I've just uploaded v3.0 of the Command Horizon rules.  You can get them either from the files section of the CH Yahoo group, or direct from www.commandhorizon.com

Thanks to some very diligent proof reading from Phil Woutat I've cleaned up a myriad of small errors and typos.  The rules themselves have been reorganised to make them flow and read better, and the infamous Example sections has been completely re-worked so that they make much more sense.

This version has mainly been an exercise in pinning down the core rules system, although we have added a section on games played in extreme environments, so if you fancy playing in a High G, High Pressure environment, here's your chance!

Thanks Maksim, early days yet, but the feedback thus far on 3.0 has all been very positive as they have fixed the niggles in previous editions.  I think they'll now form the stable base form which we can really push the system forward.

Hi Peter... a few questions.

1. When the Brigade HQ is destroyed, a new HQ unit is selected from the existing Battalion HQs. In addition, a new CH is rolled. But, Battalion HQs should already have a CH... actually, scrap that. I see now that carrying over the previous Battlion HQs CH might result in some strange numbers (a high number when some other Battalions then 'unzip' springs to mind).

2. Command radius. Is the command radius from the HQs measured before any actions are taken, or at the start of each action? If I have a company at the limit of my Battalion HQs command range, and then give it two move orders, can it complete both or only the first one (while it is within command range)?

3. Attack dice. Why do you make the calculation based on the individual models on the base, rather than the total for the base. I realise that it makes no real difference, as long as the guidelines for basing are followed, but it might give more freedom to have attack dice calculated per base - especially since this is the only time that the actual number of models on a base is significant.

4. Light Walkers. They can re-arm by base contact with any other company? So, if I have two bases of Light Walkers, both out of ammo, they can both re-supply by base contact with each other? (An extreme example.) I would probably state that re-arming can only be done via base contact with either their Battalion HQ or Brigade HQ base.

All the best.

Ooohh questions!

Well. I suppose I'd better answer them. ?You seem to have answered Q1 yourself, so I'll move on.

Command radius. Is the command radius from the HQs measured before any actions are taken, or at the start of each action? If I have a company at the limit of my Battalion HQs command range, and then give it two move orders, can it complete both or only the first one (while it is within command range)?

CR is measured at the start of the phase. ?You can then use Move CPs to me move outside of the CR, ?and then if needs be back into it!

If you look at the labels for the bases you'll see that all the attack dice ?for the models are aggregated into a single total. ? As the system progresses you'll see some very large models that will mount a number of different weapon systems all of which can be indepently targetted so, the armaments will become more crucial.

In theory light walkers can re-arm other light walkers, but only by their own ammo limit - two loads. ?Any walker base used to do such a re-load will itself be depleted.

The reloadiing can be done by any base although we will probably exclude scouts from this.

Does that help?
