Hi there, I'm looking for a 6mm game with massed battles and strike legion seems a little too detailed for that? What sort of numbers does Exodus Wars use for a normal game? Thanks Martin |

Hey DaCone2. Cool force! Just so I can answer your question better, when you say "numbers" are you meaning models/stands or points cost in the Exodus Wars setting itself? |

I've always liked the idea of massed combat so lots of tanks etc without it bogging down to much? My friend is really into horizon wars which whilst its supposed to be really good means i wouldnt use most of my stuff... |

DaCone2, That's a nice collection you got there! Yes that's about "right" for a collection to play EW rules in the EW universe. The rules are actually generic and the native setting would be ... [drumroll] The Exodus Wars but are not actually tied to it. Specific to the EW setting factions lists you may have to juggle that collection to make it fit. Give the documents I link to in this thread a read for the basic Guild and Royal Empire lists and see how they fit with the collection. I've kicked around the idea of creating a guild armoured fist style list that seems of a really good fit for what you're doing there. However you will be (or should be, mate!) super duper pleased to know that the rules have much in commonality with EA as well (think of it as EA on steroids but of course, I'm biased) and therefore I've actually done ALL the work to build a quick start guide for someone to use Epic forces / models in the EW rule system. There's completed work in porting the Steel Legion, Codex Astartes, and Ghazghul ork lists and units over to this ruleset. Basically you could ABSOLUTELY take that list you've put in your post above and play EW with the converted stats I've published. Give the documents I've posted in this thread a peek. Funny as just today I put out an update so get it while it's hot! ![]() |

That sounds really promising... I don't suppose theres a similar way of working rough point values for armageddon like there is for NETEPIC? It'd be nice to make something a bit more personal? |

Well in EA there's not a points formula (technically there's not even one for NetEPIC but one is being developed, but I digress). The philosophy for points in EA/EW lists are not uniform but specific for the eponymous force. For instance, in the Codex List (EA and in EW versions) , Terminators have a particular cost. However in the Space Wolves force, they are cheaper due to restrictions in the way they are able to be used (lacking Teleport/Sudden Appearance abilities) so are costed different. Some forces actually don't even have access to them as an independent formation (Iron Hands). So really they're a very different beast and based on a theme (e.g. Marines in defensive siege, Guard Armoured Regiment, Attrition Based Siege Infantry, Pure Titan Force, etc) and are based on extensive testing for balance (also what you CAN'T take is just as important as what you can and for what price) so a universal formula is not really appropriate. Basically there's no "Marines force" price and structure and unit availability but many representing specific force in battle. Contrast that with NetEPIC where there's a MARINE FORCES (changing in the future with Platinum but not pertinent here) that dictates the stuff regardless, albeit with many specialist choices. That being said, there's nothing that should stop you from playing with costs/units/etc for your own games. If you and your opponent agree on it, DO IT. ![]() |

That's actually incorrect L4. EW has a full rule set, one that I describe as being very much like an EA 2.0, so to speak due to cleaning up some aspects that are, in retrospect, terrible design mistakes (MW attack vs weapon ability, armour rerolls being static, d6, etc and of course, the less we say about their aerospace rules the better). See the links above for the rules. You're so spot on about game != fluff! I hate that somehow people get them conflated so much (honestly that's the one true bit of "innovation" GW has accomplished; Indelibly linking them in tabletop gamers minds). For instance I've found myself really liking the Warpath 2 mass combat rules and have been considering using HH models in that system as I think it's a far better game system (prior to that we still used modern units backported to Rogue Trader rules which I still prefer due to the RPGesque aspects). Ultimately what's awesome is that you can use your collection in multiple systems that each expose some aspect that tickles your fancy at that moment. This particular discussion even has the added benefit of having two mechanically similar systems that you can switch between without trouble. |
