Perhaps those clamshells, when shipping, should get some bubble wrap scraps shoved in to keep it all from going crazy

Let's not forget that HLS Models is a distributor, so packaging is in essence decided for them. I wouldn't object to having SCP products repackaged - though having used blisters for a decade I've found no notable issues with damage in transit.

However can you imagine the reaction from GW, Hornby or even Fantasy Flight Games if Dale or Lydia started opening up and repackaging there products (boxes or blisters)?

The evidence that we've seen of damaged SCP and Defeat in Detail stock is pretty nasty, but flies in the face of the hundreds of successful orders of Defeat in Detail and SCP. Has anyone had problems of this scale with blisters before when buying the same or similar products?

I find it difficult to comprehend that SCP and Defeat in Detail are all of a sudden getting a such a high rate of defection.

I also question how changing the distributor to buy the same product will help. If there is a problem, then ultimately it comes down to the manufacturer. In this case SCP and I guess now Vanguard Miniatures. So if we could get more feedback from the community then MoreDakka and I can look at fixing our respective lines.

I would just like to say that it's certainly not every case. I'm currently cleaning up my Edenite Heavy Infantry ready for an undercoat. Despite being received in their blister packs out of the 100 figures there's not one miscast and no breakages at all.

You'll definitely be seeing some more orders from me along the way :-)

Thanks man

Hi,

To elaborate on my earlier post the novan winter troops in particular have always had a problem with figures breaking at the ankles it's just the way they are. The problem existed before I bought the range and obviously still exists now. I always check each sprue with these and put a few extra figures in just in case anyway, but I can do that as i'm packing them and have a bag of damaged minis I can get spares from this would not be the case for HLS who only retail them. It dosen't help that the casters just put huge batches of figures in big plastic bags that then get put in boxes full of more huge bags full of figures all resting on top of each other, there is quite a weight on the minis in the bottom of the box. Every parcel received from the casters has damaged and broken models it's something i've had to budget for and now expect. You only have to look in my store to see how many broken VTOL's I get.

I do try an give everything I pack an eyeballing but it is possible that the odd item will slip through on occassion. The models held by HLS are as stated earlier from SCP's old legacy stock from back when TMG owned the range and have not been supplied by myself.

Blisters are not ideal for 6mm infantry but as you say an actual shop needs to display goods to best advantage so perhaps are a neccessary evil in your case. Not a lot more I can add really except to wish HLS my best for the future especially for the exodus wars range and thank them for offering their best in return.

Cheers guys

I was suggesting that the same distributor might use different packaging, not a change in distributor. I am in no way suggesting they open up GW blisters. All the DiD products I've had direct from ben were not in blisters/clamshells to start with anyway (and yes, the winter inf i got did have breakage, but only 1 or 2 figures) and im pretty sure the novan marines i got from vanguard were in bags. Regardless of who put the minis in the blisters, blisters still seem a waste of packaging and effort for a product that sells mostly via the web and therefore needs to pack down safely for postage.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Apologies in the deluge of messages - I never got back to you in suitable time. I am working with SCP to bring all the lines into stock.

Once we have a date for this line of minis I will send you a message to give you the date we will have this item back in stock

Kind Regards,

Dale

My order from HLS got properly battered in the post and the envelope split open but I actually had more winter infantry than I ordered. I let them know and we agreed that actually it was fine but HLS were eager to set things right if there had been a problem so I'd say if anything goes wrong, drop them a line.

Are you just selling off the old Exodus wars stock, or will this be an on going line?

I only ask as I have been eyeballing a small order for a while now, to grab the bits I didn't get when steelcrown were still around, but there are a fair few items that's have been out of stock for a while now, some of them for the past couple of months. Don't really want to split an order and pay two lots of postage for a handful of bits, while waiting for items to return, if they will not be returning any time soon.

My weekend was spent blistering up Edenites. We are putting them in baggies and then popping them in clamshells. Harder to see the mini's when they are on display in the shops, but you don't have to worry about missing or damaged mini's if the clamshell pops open somewhere over the Atlantic.

So yep - I'm definitely sending a full restock over to HLS Models.

It is complicated by the fact that three casters produce our mini's so the restock timings can be a little weird, also it took some time to gear up production after I'd started winding down production.

Steel Crown Productions is now producing mini's at a faster rate than ever before and trialing new #PostmanProof packaging :).

I'll keep the forums updated on the progress at SCP, and I'm sure that Dale will chip in with HLS news :D.

Does this means that the Edenites Infiltration Infantry is also comming back? Never got an answer from HLSmodels on that.
