Sorry to hear it Tom, appreciate your passion and commitment to the ongoing miniature community and all the things you brought us. Our tables are laden with the miniature men you labored to create and we are better for it. Thanks and best wishes with the future!

As someone who only just recently got back into 6mm gaming, I'm sorry to see you go as I had been planning on ordering some stuff.

Your Exodus Wars infantry ranges will especially be missed (especially for Necron players!).

As far as I know, you were the only person making good crates / barrels in 6mm so that's another little niche that's now empty!

Sad news, my squats and marines would have been much poorer without the Khazari and guild ranges.
All the best with whatever you do next.

A true loss for the community, but your statement sounds thought through.

All the best with any future plans and many thanks for you efforts!

I havent been active on the forums much over the last 6 months or so, but pop in every now and again when time/real life permits. It Really is a sad day to see Steel crown closing its doors, I personally have always had top notch service, and great comms with Tom.

Best wishes.

Steve

Arf... I hate to see another source of 6mm goodness go. :-(
I know you are going to put the schematics up on shapeways, which is nice, but also ups the cost a bit. At least until we start seeing a drop in prices for 3D printing.
Have you considered handing over your designs/molds to another 6mm supplier - or at least allow for reproduction in the terms for your designs on shapeway?
Again thanks for all the 6mm goodness and hope to see you well :-)

Very sorry to hear this. This is a hard business, usually done at a personal financial loss, thanks for all of the hard work and effort.

Very sorry to hear this. I'm sure most or all of us have minis from your store, and yours was the first purchase I made when getting back into the 6mm side of the hobby, which says a lot about your range of minis, but also your prominence in the community.

All the best.

Bert

Dude, in my eyes it was yourself and DRM that led the re-invigoration of 6mm sci fi. You pushed for quality and proved not only what could be done, but that there was a market for it and lead directly to the proliferation of great 6mm ranges there are today. For your passion in that, I thank you.

This must have been a hell of a decision to make, but health and yourself have to come first. I raise my glass to all you achieved, and the best of luck for all futures mate. Take care.

I wanted to echo Pauls sentiments. It must have been a very hard decision to make, when the instinct is to keep the company staggering along at 95% instead of 100%, and it takes guts to allow it to go out with a celebration instead of a sigh.

I remember the really early days, standing around at Salute and looking at new casts or bouncing ideas off each other about 'what we would love to see in Epic'. Who would have thought that this.... empire, would be the result? EW/SCG and DRM are the two cornerstones of a resurrgence of Epic miniatures and 6mm science fiction gaming in general. You showed that it could be done, and done professionally and well, and that people would buy new 6mm miniatures.

You are the face of EW, because it was your heart and soul and dedication that went into it, and I am very proud to be a small part in the history of EW, and to have been there to watch it all.

My hope is that this will live on, through the Fractured Empire game, and that someone will step up and obtain the IP and designs to continue in a way that you approve, because 6mm gaming wont be the same without you and EW mate. And that is not an over statement.

I've only just caught up with this thread, as I've not spent much time on the forum since the start of summer aside from some TMG threads.

Absolutely gutted to hear this, but I do understand Tom.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with you a couple of time at the Birmingham Games Expo chatting about grand schemes for further Epic Goodness.

I'm guessing there's been no word on someone picking up the moulds/IP.

Good luck with the future.

Cheers

Biff
