Hi Guys,

There have been a number of older games with "crab-aliens" including Star Guard and Space Opera. There are larger (15mm and 25mm) miniatures for these games.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Are y'all talking about robot crabs, or crusteacoid aliens? ???

I was thinking the latter.  Anyhoo, I hope I'm not stepping on too many toes posting this in the EW section (I'll move any more elsewhere), but here's a first try.  No guns, though.  And for some reason the pleasingly shaped monsters in my mind's eye don't want to show up right on paper.  This is the only scribble that looks half-decent to me.

And yes, I got me a deviantart account. :)

On the subject of gribbly aliens with guns (like, oh... tyranids, I suppose), I'm not always satisfied with the concept of highly biological and non-humanoid creatures holding fleshy 'rifles'.  If I'm going to do a few doodles along these lines I think I'd like to represent any ranged weapons as an ability or part of the creature's anatomy.  There are a few precendents - snakes and scorpions that spray venom, nasute termites, electric fish, etc.
Thoughts?

That's a pretty rare, and probably pricey Mechwarrior Click.

That is a Mechwarrior piece....and the particular one pictured is a fairly recent and still kinda rare version.  There have been 2 other versions of the same sculpt though which are much less rare.  I have 2-3 hanging around.

On the Crab as aliens thingy, one of the first Collectable Card Games was Galactic Empires.  One of the foundation races the Krebiz were "crab-like".  Some good inspration could be found as thre was some pretty decent artwork (and some awful stuff too).  They also had the Scorpead....no prizes for guessing their basis :)

Wasn't there a very crab like Gundam - or was it Macross or Robotech - beastie once?

Ah, yes - well, more or less: more-or-less-crab-mecha

And better still.

And again.
One more.
And the last of 'em.

Ooh! I used to love Space Opera. Got any easy links for us?

Yes, I loved the Invid too. Watched that series while in high school.

I prefer the former - warmachines similar to crabs, although crusteacoids with machinery and weapons strapped to them are also acceptable.

And as you, I have had my fill of Tyranid-like bioweapons.

One range that I was really looking forward to was the Cravid from Griffin Miniatures. Seems to have died a premature death though (IP police?)

Edit: I stand corrected! It looks like they are coming soon! Lot's of titan class proxies for CwG.
