I've been playing Minervans this year as we've come out of isolation. I've found a competive list is doable with super-heavy companies, but not so with Russ companies. What are people's thoughts on moving the Russ Platoon to a "core" formation (like Ulani), allowing 0-6 russes to be added to it, and dropping the Russ company? That should allow people to keep their current builds but allow for Russ heavy armies that are a little more competitive.

Also, I'd also like to have the option to include more Griffons and Hellhounds. What about adding support formations of 6 of these like Cadians?

Medusa seem pretty pointless too, does anyone use them? I'm not sure how to go about adjusting them? 6 strong formation? Add them to upgrades?

Edit: added a playtest list

Think the list was/is popular in australia, always seemed to pop up in their tournament lists, so might be worth posted on the Oz forums, would guess they have the most total games in with it.

im a fan of 6 strong hellhounds, if you could get euk to add em into their armour list as well … :D

I'm in favor of changing to Russ platoon and adding more options for Griffons and Hellhounds

It’s a venerable list, an update would be great. There are some powerful builds (spam Conquerers) but it is generally a less competitive list.

Medusa….I’ll have a think about them!

In a weird radical move, I actually think NetEA should adopt Ulani, with a few small tweaks. Kinda like that this list was a bit more focused on SHT builds and the other optimized for Russ tide of iron builds

Def need to have 6 strong hellhounds and Griffon tho

I agree with all the proposals.

There are very good similar ideas on this thread:

I'd rather keep the existing list as with Ulani as I'd miss the option to take superheavy companies and core and having a list with the venerable Stormhammer in it. Unless you mean adopting the Ulani list as well the Minnervan rather than replacing it which could be fine if people wanted. People chatting about it seem of the opinion the Epic-UK Ulani list is a challenging list to win much with at 3k but becomes more competitive at 4k.

Some minor updates to balance the old list sound fine.

Yeah I'm saying that the Ulani list should be adopted, with a few tiny tweaks, by NetEA thus keeping both lists. It's demonstrably tournament ready. In both lists I'd like to add independent hellhound and Griffon formations and harmonize the stats with existing NetEA but other than that, we're good.

Ulani for Armored Cav theme.
Minervan for SHT theme.

OK, I added a playtest list to the first post. I included the Konig's Medusa and Destroyer formation as well (the later might be a little high, points-wise). I didn't re-stat anything though.

small suggestion: maybe worth looking at the LR destroyer tank hunter. AT2+ sniper always seemed more fitting to this than 4+TK?

If people want to playtest them with the Ulani stats @ 200 go for it, both can reach a balanced cost. You can't really quantify "seems more fitting" though. If the majority of players want to change it, we can.

@200 points (as in for two in a 10 strong formation)? Forgive me just trying to work that out against that list as it's a rare restriction. I'm with Apoc on this one and never liked the NetEA stats. Didn't fit the 40k stats nor fluff so will be trying that out.

I'm mostly a NetEpic player, but Minervans has always been my Armageddon army of choice, if I ever get around to playing it again somewhere, somehow.

I raised myself from the dead to comment that I like the proposed changes, the flexibility it provides players but doesn't get wildly radical and divert from fluff and feel. Also have to comment my agreement with Apoc that an AT2+ weapon reflects what the Destroyer is in fluff better than having a titan killer weapon.

A formation of three at 200, Jimmy.

What would you suggest for the rare upgrade table per? Stay at 70 or drop?

LEMAN RUSS RARE VARIANTS
(One in five Leman Russ variants may be rare.)
UNIT COST
Destroyer Tank Hunter +70 points
Leman Russ Executioner +20 points
Leman Russ Vanquisher +45 points
