Before people ask: Baneblade: speed to 20cm, no crit effect Storm Troopers get Chimera Emperor: to 1+, and 150 points Bombards: speed to 15cm, armor to 5+ Tank Squadron upgrade: to 150 points |

Rug, I was realllllllly hoping this change would have been added Ten Leman Russ 625 points (replace one Leman Russ with a Leman Russ Vanquisher) (+25) Leman Russ tanks are cheap and plentiful on ebay to this day but people tend to hoard the Vanquishers and it seems a shame to put off people that don't like to kitbash. Any chance to reexamine this one from last year? Edit: good call on the Emperor |

Bombards could now be garrisoned on overwatch with that speed... |

I would have fiddled with the points for artillery.... either 225 or 250 for basilisks/bombards +25pts to upgrade to manticores... I'd prefer the 275 option for manticores personally |

That doesn't invalidate a collection. That may invalidate a list however. Invalidating a collection would be removing Baneblades from the list. We've tweaked points/upgrades many times so far and are currently doing that right now on DKoK I'll note. However if you're that worried about peoples collections then DROP the others in price. The problem is manticores are simply too good for the price and what they do. The fact we can garrison Bombards is really interesting. that's an exciting change. I own them because I like the model, not because they're any good in the GT. Sentinel / Bombard combos may have some legs... |

I agree with Jimmy, if manticores are the no-brainer choice then either make the alternatives cheaper or the manticores more expensive (or both.... 225 for basilisks/bombards 275 for manticores....) in the steel legion list, 50 points makes a big difference... it's the difference between swapping a unit of sentinels for rough riders, or needing to drop a hydra from somewhere to fit in the deathstrikes.... I wouldn't garrison bombards, it just makes them easier for the opponent to hit on the 9/10 times he gets to go before you, and even with their brand new mighty save, I doubt they're going to survive much.... ![]() personally I don't have a problem with any of the changes really, but I think the list as is, is in great shape, Richard has won multiple tournaments with it, and LargoW turned in a solid performance at the euros, I even managed my highest tourney placing (6th!!) using it I honestly think the unit upgrade issue is a red herring, 99% of playtests are done at 3k where activations are king, at 4k, you have much more freedom to create bigger tougher units with addons, and few people really seem to focus on that... |

Something like this has been my go to IG list for a long time: Quote: Incompertus, 3000 POINTS Steel Legion (NetEA Army Compendium v2014) ================================================== REGIMENTAL HQ [550] Supreme Commander, 12 Infantry, 7 Chimera, Hydra MECHANISED INFANTRY COMPANY [450] Commander, 12 Infantry, 7 Chimera, Hydra MECHANISED INFANTRY COMPANY [450] Commander, 12 Infantry, 7 Chimera, Hydra ARTILLERY BATTERY [250] 3 Manticores ARTILLERY BATTERY [250] 3 Manticores SENTINEL SQUADRON [100] 4 Sentinels SENTINEL SQUADRON [100] 4 Sentinels DEATHSTRIKE MISSILE BATTERY [200] 2 Deathstrike Missile Launchers SUPER-HEAVY TANK PLATOON [200] Shadowsword THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150] 2 Thunderbolts THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150] 2 Thunderbolts THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150] 2 Thunderbolts I usually take the Shadowsword over the Baneblade because I'm after the TK. Just the Deathstrikes aren't enough as they're usually gone before they activate. A cheaper mobile Storm Trooper option is tempting, but at the end of the day the regular infantry's autocannon wins out over the CC/FF bumps for me. The only time I take SC is to drop, otherwise I consider them a waste of points whether they come in on turn 1 or turn 3, or at 2+ or 1+. I don't want to give up a formation on the ground. I would consider swapping Bombards out for the Manticores if their range matched what it is in 40k and the fluff. At 45cm, I don't see the point. The garrison option is interesting, but can be neutralized by your opponent with their objective placement. I take very few upgrades (tank squadrons included), mainly due to the high cost of IG base formations. The activation count is needed to win in my opinion. |

Emperor Battleship 1+ init.... hmmm I like that. Storm Trooper chimeras are another good thing. Yay. Baneblade 20 cm move, without crit, seems a better and cheaper russ company to me. Bombard OW seems to be another good anti first turn drop / teleport / air assault weapon. Armour upgrade is fine. Inspirited hellhounds are just funny. ![]() Artillery Company for 600 is cool. Upgrades are hard to judge. Of course it's cool to have them cheaper. Nevertheless thanks for your work on it Rug! |
