Post subject:  DKoK or Cadia?
Looking for opnions on this. I know they are different styles, but I am curious to what people like and why. I have a huge ammount of IG. Alot of it is your common units/tanks and could easily do Cadia or DKoK. Never played either. Is Cadia more of your typical sit back and shoot IG and DKoK your run up and FF army? Any opnions on either would help. Checked out both lists and like what I see.

I have both ... but my predilection for either is a battle of maneuver. I'm not wedded to the fluff. I'm the Cdr ... not GW ... ;)

Could you give me your thoughts on both? What do you like about Cadia and how it is compaired to DKoK, and vice versa?

Trying to understand how each of them are before I commit to build one

Hi!

I usually play with Steel Legion as IG and sometimes with DKOK, not with Cadia though.

Anyway, I would say that DKOK is very different from the other IG armies. DKOK is much more oriented to the assaults and do not have fire power to sustain a shooting battle.

DKOK is also, in my opinion, more a "wave" army with lot of units and high death rates.

There are some battle reports with DKOK, I am sure you will understand better its gamestyle reading some.

It may simply come down to personal taste, but the Death Korps is absolutely a Fire Fight assault army.

They aren't as good at long range shooting as Cadia or normal Steel Legion, but there is an advantage to being forced to move up field in a game based on objectives.

Yeah so for the Cadians it's going to feel a little more flexible and somewhat more elite and less about wave attacks or attrition. For instance, many units that are traditionally only found as upgrades can be fielded as support detachments (e.g. Hellhounds in formations of 6 which actually are usable then). In addition, the centerpiece is the rolling war engines which act like hard to stop fortresses. I guess if I had to describe everything the DKoK are WW1 warfare, SL as WW2/Cold War Red Army , Cadians as NATO (smaller independent formations)/WW2 Wehrmacht (the crazy uber weapons).
