Hello Guys, In the process of making a 4k list for a tournament and I was thinking of playing Minervans. I am expecting to play against a lot of drop forces. Any way here is the list open to ideas and changes. (I don't like titans) Artillery company, 4 Manticores, 5 Basilisks, 700pts 1 Hydra Super Heavy Tank Company 2 Shadowswords,1 Baneblade 500pts Tank Company 1 Vanquisher, 7 Leman Russ and 2 demolishers 800pts 1 Supreme Commander 1 Hydra Deathstrke 200pts Vultures 300pts Tank Platoon 280pts Tank Platoon 280pts Flak Battery 150pts Super Heavy Platoon 200pts Thuderbolt Squad 150pts Thuderbolt Sruad 150pts Warhound Titan 275pts Its just 15pts short of 4000pts. any ideas thoughts? |

I'd drop the Arty Company in favor of two Manticore Batteries, and take a Salamander Platton to screen them from teleporters. (600pt) Shadowswords are better off as singletons; it adds activations and allows more flexibility. I suggest taking a full company of Baneblades (or even Stormswords) with a Hydra instead, and also two single Shadowswords at this level (950pt). Dropping the Arty Coy leaves you short a Company, so replace the two tank platoons with another Tank Company. What was in those platoons? You have them priced for Thunderers. I'll assume a standers Tank Company composition of 1 Vanq, 9 Russ, 1 Hydra. (700pt) You probably don't need the Vultures and Deathstrikes because of the quantity of AT and TK in the army already. Replace them with a Stormtrooper Platoon for screening and Engage/AP work. The TBolts and Warhound are sound investments. Here's what you end up with: Incompertus, 3975 POINTS Minervan Tank Legion (NetEA Army Compendium v20120208) ================================================== SUPER-HEAVY TANK COMPANY [550] 3 Baneblade, Flak Support (Hydra) SELF-PROPELLED ARTILLERY BATTERY [250] 3 Manticores SELF-PROPELLED ARTILLERY BATTERY [250] 3 Manticores SALAMANDER SCOUT PLATOON [100] 3 Salamanders SUPER-HEAVY TANK PLATOON [200] Shadowsword SUPER-HEAVY TANK PLATOON [200] Shadowsword TANK COMPANY [800] 7 Leman Russ, Vanquisher, 2 Demolisher, Supreme Commander, Flak Support (Hydra) TANK COMPANY [700] 9 Leman Russ, Vanquisher, Flak Support (Hydra) THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150] 2 Thunderbolts THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150] 2 Thunderbolts STORM TROOPER PLATOON [350] 8 Storm Troopers, Valkyrie Transport WARHOUND TITAN [275] |

Thanks for the reply. I had just Leman Russ Demolishers in those tank Platton's. I also can't take Salamanders so I can't use won't I don't have. I also feel that I would need to have at least one Flak Battery. I believe there will be lots of flyers and possible lots of cc as well. ![]() |

Take Chimeras for proxys. IMO that functions well untill you field mechanized infantry. I usally play my Minervans vs. Gazkhulls Orks and I field at least 6 Hydras, 3 for one battery, the others are attached to companies. And also two squadrons of T-Bolts are included. May you take a look for my 3k Minervan List as an inspiration. |

Remember the costs for tanks go into the platoons too, so in your original list they'd be 400 each with demos, not 280. If you want extra flak you could drop the Storm Troopers from my suggestion and take a Flak Battery and some Deathstrikes or another SHT. |

Yeah bassis and manticores don't synergize well in my experience. Normally I see them taken in two (or more) detachments alternating fire each turn with their Slow Fire. The latter might not work out as well depending on how well you can screen teleport and air assault attacks. |

I don't have an aversion to the artillery company like some other players, but I do believe Salamanders are a must, especially for screening artillery. Most tournament lists won't have more than one teleporting formation, so a single scout screen will mitigate the chances of your artillery being attacked from the get-go. Combine those scouts with a heavy AA umbrella and you will have an untouchable infantry busting artillery formation that will shake your opponents. He will be forced to drive into you or cope with the shelling - either way you control the game. |

Thanks for the feedback first off all. I will not be using Salamanders as I don't have the figures, I personal hate this. This being said I have been looking on eBay most days for some. I also expect to come against some heavy drop forces like Space Wolves and I would expect on average to play against at least 2 teleporting units in most armies. Once thanks for the feedback. |

You could use Exodus Wars Guild FAO vehicles (Agamemnons?). They're good matches for Armageddon pattern Salamanders. Inexpensive, too. |

Is ot strictly EW or any third party products? If not the latter then we also have DRM and PNC which have great products. Check out the Epic Proxy list thread for more detailed info and pinks. also EA is a game of abstraction. Any chimera suitably differentiated should be fine as a proxy. There's plenty of collector's models on eBay and you'll only need a few so it should be cost effective. |
