here is the tanith list see what you think play test if you wish i have made a few updates which i think are fluffy and balance the list out abit chris

slight changes just to even things out will hopefully make an army myself soon

You missed a special rule:

"Character Shields

Nominate one infantry stand for every 1000 points. This stand includes a named character and thus benefits from that characters magical plot-induced character shield. The unit gains a 3+ RA save, which works like a holofield and thus may be taken against any damage."

In all seriousness, although the list looks a little one sided it looks fluffily interesting.

I'm intrigued, not having read all the books, as to why armour can be included in the allies section but artillery cannot. Do the Taniths never get any artillery support in the series?

The one time they did they were blown to pieces by friendly fire.  The books are good and I think the list is relatively accurate to them, in Epic terms.

There's a lot of typos though.

Although I haven't played against it yet, I believe this is an army list being developed by a chap at my gaming club.

Either that or someone's had a very similar idea (Right down to special rules)

Actually on a second look, the name of the writer is different.

though this idea would be very characterful i thik it would make the chacters have a two bigger roll in the game

if you wanted you could make chages to the list as i have not read the books either

Where are the stats for the tanith light Infantry,tanith heavy weapons ang gaunt.

Heheh, I was just jesting about the way that heroes rarely seem to buy it in books!

The force looks workable to me, I'd be interested in trying it out sometime. I love the idea of very fluff themed lists like this

Beardy fluffbag (and he is one, he plays dwarfs in fantasy) is the new guy I brought into the epic fold.

I helped him work out the basic of the list but some of it is his own.

The armour is in the allis section, since the tanith regiment seems to have closish ties with the numidian (sp?) tank regiment and work close with them in at least two of the books, and to give them some heavy firepower.

I can see this list doing quite well against nids and orks (taking out their "leaders") with all their sniper rifles, but will suffer against massed tanks or anyone bringing along a titan/gargant.

The new special rule should help them against tanks and WE a little bit but they are still weak againat them

I don't like the plucky luck rule.

why do the Tanith get it, when they are light infantry and should have no experiance against tanksor WEs.

I would leave them at a disadvantage agaisnt such things as it is in their nature to not do well.

Also, you could change the allies section so that it reads 1/3 of the army may be spent on the minervan tank legion list.

This will give you some more flexability.

i was basing this rule on a couple of pieces of backoground on the GW site and i think that it works though in the background only the ghosts thmselves have such luck and experience so mayby if it was just commanders characters and leaders

Every regiment that is writen about has the "best luck ever".

for example one Valhalan (sp?) took down a Gargant with small arms fire.

Best leave such Micro mangament out of epic.  And leave such lucky shots to your opponents bad dice rolling, like when I took down one of your Reavers with storm bolter fire from rhinos. :D

i got rid of that rule and look at the minervians and i think that give them a bit more of a chance against vechicles and WE's

That is what I was tinking the Minervan list could easily represent the Pardus or Narmenian tank regiments,and give more flexability to the allies, rather than a 650pt tank company.

just make it clear in the rules that when you are choosing from the Minervan list you still have to keep to its force organisation rules.

Looking through the stats I have notced that you have missed off the snipers stat line.

Also why do they get heavy missiles, rather than just missiles?  8x AP4+AT5+ is a bargin compared to the standard heavy weapons teams of 8x AP5+/AT6+.  I would just keep them at AP5+/AT6+ and rename them tread fethers (the light missiles that the Tanith use).

finally, another version of the camo we could try on saturday is that any aP/AT shots fired at them is t -1 to hit and have it stackable with cover saves.  So a camoed unt in cover is at -2 to hit!.

There are very few ignore cover weapons in the game, which means a constant cover saveis just like a normal save, and light infantry shouldn't have a better dave than regular infantry.

The camo cloaks -1 to hit doesn't effect BP weapons, since they rely on satuation to get the desired results.

If it works well, we could try to see if Tau stealth suits and Tyranid Lictors want the same rule.
