how heavily have the various stats for FW stuff been playtested?

TRC has done a bit.

For the most part, I'd say that inclusion in a list is the best way to start testing them.

Personally I've tested the Destroyer quite a lot with my Death Korps... it's powerful, but you pay a huge premium in order to use it.

Note that I didn't use the collector's stats as they weren't really all that appropriate.

Hmmm... TK(1) seems a little strong for the Destoyer... I was thinking something along the lines of AT 3+. sniper; makes it only able to target armour, and it reduces their save as well.

As a MW/TK weapon, it'll be hitting infantry as well as tanks, that doesn't seem right.  (I believe you're trying to make it AT only, E&C, by giving it an AT4+, TK attack, but I don't think that's how the rules work.)

Snipers Was to powerful beause it could snipe commander tanks out of the formation.
TK i see as abit to powerful too. What about simply AT1+(yes 1+) or MW2+?

Hena's on the money there, we wanted a solution that would represent the gun properly, so we went with AT4+, TK(1).

Meaning that it can only target armoured vehicles and tanks, and that it's very powerful when it does so.

Note that the Destroyer's main gun is described as slicing through Titan-class armour with ease...

Hi- I have read both lists- Chroma's and link posted by TRC. I liked elements of both.

I can't claim any credit, it was done by Trentbartlem in mid 2004, then a few gamers in Kent have used it on off.

I'll have a look over the other list in detail tomorrow, plus look at Trents list to see what good ideas can be added :)

My favourite aspect of that incidentally was Basilisk assault guns.

Yes the Assault Gun Battery as company upgrade is interesting.

But why has regular infantry a 6+ save? Cadians aren't heavier armoured than SteelLegionaires.

I though Cadians had Carapace armour?

Oh well, I shall inform the lads in kent, thats what they get for trusting me.

Had a look at the other two lists, I reckon that they should be able to be combined into one with few problems? Otherwise I think the special rule ain't needed - regular stormtrooper stats minus scout is fine for Karskin. I see theres no desire to add forge world units - fairy snuff, each to his own!

Oh and Melta gun - did you mean to say Multi Melta (that has a 15cm range)? I doubt the regular melta is more than small arms.

No. Only Kasrkin and Stormtroopers have Carapace armour. General Cadians have armaplast flakwests as every general guardsman too. (you cansee in the doctrines section of my General Imperial Guard armylist which regiments have access to carapace armour).

@Meltaguns: I wouldn't give Meltaguns a FF attack. Multi-meltas have arange of 24" which translates to 15cm in Epic scale. A Meltagun has a range of 12". Instead of a bonus to the units FF-attack i would use the Meltagun to give the unit a MW CC attack for the units base CC-attack.

Both lists were created to specifically be different "aspects" of Cadian fighting: Elite mech infantry and elite defenders.  Cadians saw both types of action in the "Eye of Terror" battles and I wanted their army lists to reflect that.
Otherwise I think the special rule ain't needed - regular stormtrooper stats minus scout is fine for Karskin.
The "Iron Discipline" special rule has been removed for the next version, as it's no where near as potent as the 40k TSKNF rule
I see theres no desire to add forge world units - fairy snuff, each to his own!Not a lack of desire, per se, just didn't see it as particularly necessary.

What's the reference for the idea that Cadia uses more plasma-variants come from?  I know plasma-variants are Forge World Ryza's claim to fame, but I thought it was Forge World Agrippaa that was the big supplier for Cadia.

Nope, it's supposed to be Meltaguns for the Special Weapon Teams, it mirrors the stats for the Fire Dragon Fusion Guns which are, essentially, the same weapon.

Though i subscibre to as many lists a possible I do think each list should have several styles - isn't this rail-roading people a bit to much or are there balance concerns with the fortifications.

On fortifications I have had it pointed out I forgot the 100 points for 6 Siegemaster bunkers that has been tried a bit and 'apparently ok' though I am sceptical.

That does mean that melta guns and multi melta have identical abilities? Can't see that working that well.

I think as with the famous SpaceMarines Chapters we should define which style each of the famous Imperial Guard regiments should have?

I will think about it and open a new thread for this

@Meltaguns: the Firedragons are 5-10 Eldar per unit and everyone uses a Fusiongun. Stormtroopers/Kasrkin are 5-10 men too but only 2 have a specialweapon like Meltagun, Plasmagun, etc.

Special Weapon Squads are six Guardsmen with three special weapons amongst them; they're a seperate squad type from Kasrkin/Stormtroopers.

I'll reduce it to a single Meltagun attack and aFFMW5+ attack in the next version.

Special Weapos squats i have in my General Imperial Guard list, too. I took the Support Squat unit and simply switched the Autoguns for increased number of units.
