Damocles command rhino

Potentially useful for lists that need to stop blast marker build up couple of options to include it.

1 - what already exists, give a commander upgrade to a rhino. Dissadvantage is its pricy and risky, but characterful.

2 - give leader to a rhino and list/price it seperately.

Thoughts?

I'd go with Leader for both this and the Prometheus... as it'd provide something that normally lacks in a Marine list (The potential for 2x Leaders in a formation).

I'd limit the spread of these vehicles however by making each type 0-1 per army... which is in-line with the background fluff anyway.

How much an army has would be up to those making each list, the fluff and exceptions are better in context.

When I originally thought about the Damocles I thought it would be a Rhino with Commander Special Ability.  But then I thought about it, and I didn't like the idea of a Rhino having any leadership abilities because it goes against the fluff surrounding the Space Marines.  Whenever you read about the leadership of any of the Space Marines it is all about the guy, not his equipment, not his gadgets, nothing about other than how great he is.

The Rhino Damocles is a Command and Control Rhino.  Well, instead of focusing on the "command" aspect of the vehicle how about we focus on the "control" that it affords.

For the lists that I am putting thogether for my group I am proposing that the Damocles has 2 abilities:

1) Teleporting Terminators that teleport within LOS of the Damocles may re-roll the d6 roll that all teleporting units have to make.
2) Allows the Space Marine player to buy Imperial Navy Orbital Bombardments

0-1 availability, costs 25 points.

I'm taking a vaguely similar approach to the Land Raider Prometheus, see that thread for specifics.

I use a Damcoles as marker for my BlitzObjective only. It has no game effect.

Else: remove Transport from a Rhino and add Leader.

As noted in the Prometheus thread, I think you should just make the using normal SM character upgrades.  You could give the Damocles a point-reduction in some way if you like, but keep it as low-maintenance as possible.

Or it could be a 4th kind of Character Upgrade.

It would be a Captain in a Rhino without transport capacity, without InvulnerableSave and without the MW EA.

There is nothing wrong with a MWCC attack on a Rhino.

The MWCC attack is not supposed to literally be Joe Commander hanging out the hatch and hacking away at people.  I know it has a name in the stat line like "power weapon" or "big choppa" or "exarch weapon" but it's actually supposed to represent a whole package of tactical and strategic abilities.

After all an Ork Warlord in the Gargant's noggin isn't going to reach an enemy unit, let alone single-handedly chop it to bits.

Yes i know but on as big a thing as a Gargant it is more believable as on a brittle Rhino.

Does anybody have the Imperial Armor that the Damocles is in?  Can the verbage for the Damocles be typed into this thread?
