Apologies if anyones ever thought of this before. Tis simple, fits with a number of chapters and I like it ![]() Techmarines - Count as Librarians. It makes sense, think about it. Add 'em to a vehicle and they get an invulnerable save, and additionaly firepower (the servitors). Add 'em to infantry and they get a bit of a bonus, similar to the firepower in 40k. Medics - Count as Chaplains. Why? Well nutty as marines are this whole geneseed = imortality thing is certainly going to keep you fighting a bit harder, worry less about the enemy, etc. |

Problem here: Techmarines = Librarians is fine. They are a separate armylist entry. I really like your idea. But Medics are part of the retinue of a Captain/Chaplain/Librarian. If you treat Medics as separate characters, then consecvently you have to include the Standard Bearer and the Company Champion too. But i think this isn't nessecary. |

Its done as a lot of people have medic stands from long ago and I think felt a bit lost with them. The standard bearer could be another Chaplain style effect (under counts as) - whats acompany campion? |

A Company Champion is a veteran with a power weapon, bolt pistol and a parry-shield. He is part of the retinue of a character. Something of a downgraded Emperors Champion (= no special rules or unique equipment). But the poblem remains: Only Captains, Chaplains, Librarians and Techmarines are individual characters with its own retinue. This retinue consists of 4-9 veterans of wich can be upgraded to Standard Bearer, Medic and Company Champion if wished (the Techmarine can only have Servitors). |

But Techmarines are in Codex Space Marine a separat armylist entry with its ownretinue (of Servitores). And i really like the idea of using Techmarines as Librarians...its makes sense rules wise. They are both good at CC (Techmarines = Combat Servitors and ServoArms, Librarians = PsyWeapon) and they are booth good at shooting and FF(Techmarine = Weapon Servitors, Librarian = Psychic Powers). |

We still have all the E40K/E:A C-pack SM Specialists figs on separate stands as in SM2 ! And use modified SM2/E40K/E:A rules ... but as always, do what works for you ... I or a Commissar ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

For those with Medics and Techies on their own bases from way back, I think that this suggestion is absolutely fine and fits in nicely. Sure, the fluff says that Medic are part of the command entourage, but it you have the stands (or even the minis) then why not? |

I think this is a fine idea for a "counts as." |

Hi! Just as their a squads of specialist, a squad of medics supporting the troops would not be unheard of and is certainly the way epic has represented them before. Primarch |

Don't confuse the map (the 40K armylists) for the territory (the fluff). Medics don't have to follow an HQ unit around all of the time. They go where they're needed. There were even optional rules for 40K in WD for detaching apothecaries to other squads. |

NB- The current Codex: Space Marines allows a trait that permits Apothecaries to become replacements(I belive compulsarily so) for Veteran Sergeants. Useful...perhaps... |
