Hey folks,

Attached is a fan list i've been working on (on and off) since about 2017.

I've had several games with it and have found it thematically to my liking, though i think i'm still to win a game with them.

At the end is a(n ongoing) change log and my (brief) thought processes re army-specific formations/units.

Feedback welcome and/or if you try the list feel free to post how they fared. I love them, but i'm biased.

FYI...
- The list started as a mashup of the old UK list, an old list i found on here, and also some data from the traitor legion army builder thing.
- My goal was to get away from marines being a codex list... plus extra bikes or plus extra tanks. To really make the list thematically driven.
- Wanted to incorporate the detachment requirements aspect that other army lists have

I think you'd have fun with it.

It's kind of a rearrangement of codex, so most of the models that you'd need you'd probably have anyway; scouts become neophytes, regular drop pods could sub in for deathstorms etc.
Or you can go nuts like me and print a whole new army

Am planning on giving it a run at cancon 2020.

Will aim to get as many of those iconic units as possible in the list just to show them off...
sword brethren, neophytes, assault terminators, deathstorms, stormravens... can't wait.

Expecting multiple floggings but should have some fun in the process.

4:0 loss (everything but BTS) to vanilla marines on 2019-12-07

air assault commenced on turn 3, 0:0 objs end of turn.
turn 4 my remaining forces were whittled away to non-effectiveness.

was contemplating this list for cancon 2020 as it has a full spread of the 'special' units, but it's got soooo little depth and i'd like to give my opponents at least a semblance of a challenge.

During Cancon 2020 i made brief battle reports just for shiggles. These are not detailed reports but basically show the army was used.

BT results: 4 Losses/1 Draw/1 Win which was far better than i anticipated. Came 14/16 players which, with this list, was not overly surprising.

The list included most of the 'iconic' or 'BT specific' units, mainly to showcase them. I could have come up with a more utilitarian list but that wasn't my goal.

Was so cool to see this army on the table. Really impressed with the work you've done to get a niche list out there, and the love you have for it is clear.

Missed playing it at Cancon, hopefully I'll get to face it some time this year..

We also had a scenario game day where i gave them a run. We played a 'convoy' mission, which equates to kill the target model at all costs (only one objective).

Just noticed that the assult termies have fearless and come at the same price as tact termies. A bit on the nose, ya think? Best to just drop fearless methinks. I like the inclusion of a Cyclone launcher. It's not fluffy but giving the unit a weak FF is probably a good bet.

sounds reasonable, thanks for pointing that out.

was probably more of a 'narrative' inclusion, aka if they're dropping into a herd of nids for CC and loving it then they're probably... fearless
how much extra for them to keep it would you suggest?

i'm sure i've seen cyclone launchers on termis way back when, though maybe not on assault models specifically. the idea here would have been that they should probably have some access to some kind of FF capability - and cyclone launcher seemed terminator-y. the idea that these expensive units cannot defend themselves against skimmers at all really bothered me... mainly from the perspective that 'why would you ever take them?' especially in a tournament list that going to be (historically) packed full of eldar.
just thoughts.

sorry for the delay, i've gotten out of the habit of checking in here, but will be more diligent in the future.

termies are already about the best of any marines already. You're talking slivers of ability (e.g. debating if Seal Team 6 vs Spetsnaz vs IDF Unit 101 is a the point of the limits of abilities and training to be meaningless). I'd give the unit a free Commander unit to enable shedding more BM myself and a good mechanic to represent the best of the best tactics

I definitely wouldn’t give assault terminators fearless, it’s not at all appropriate or justified.

Give them CC2+ and an invulnerable save (due to the storm shields) in exchange for dropping all FF and shooting attacks. Overall the formation would get 0.66 extra regular hits plus 0.66 extra MW attacks compared to a regular Terminator formation. They’d be extremely deadly when attacking on their terms but useless at supporting other engagements.

In 40k assault terminators can’t have ranged weapons so cyclones is a no no. Sometimes a unit is characterised by being specialised for doing one thing really well and other things not at all.

Finally got around to making some amendments to this, taking into account feedback received.
Am happy with the result as a fan list.
