Not an expert on the RGuard fluff but my understanding is they're fairly hit and run focused - this seems to translate into having lots of assault troops and jump packs.

I always felt that hit and run troops would want to avoid getting bogged down in CC and thought a unique formation (for space marines anyway) could be Jump Pack equipped troops armed with a variety of special guns. Jump Close, fire the guns, better in FF than CC.

275pts for 6 stands
INF, MV30cm, A4+, CC5+, FF3+
Plasma Gun 15cm, AP5+/AT5+
Flamer 15cm, AP5+, ignore cover
Jump Packs, AtSKnF

On vacation at the moment. I'm going to be going through this thread to see where the New England group left off.

Can people interested in seeing this list approved respond with a summary of the findings from their games and whether or not they can commit to 6 reports from their group next year?

Having an assault troop with those stats seems too powerful to me.

The RG already has specialized scouting units in the scout-snipers and commandos, which fits their fluff. Personally I'd like too see the commandos have a better FF value, but you can't have everything.

The tactic of using two formations of standard assault marines deployed from Thunderhawks works very well when the target it prepped properly, I see no reason why it should be changed.

It does work - but most people have abondoned it for terminators. One less activation but far fewer casualties in the assault and the option of teleporting if things look dicey in the air.
