Well to see where we stand on the Wolves of Fenris I'll leave it to the masses to decide (if we can).

Personally I like the old school theory, but I'm not going to block the new design if people want it.

When I say "cadre" I mean you can get extra units when you add a character to a formation. They won't have TSKNF however edit - will leave this decision till later. This option is a fluffiness option in my mind.

Cheers all!

You realise that both unridden wolves and also ridden wolves exist in the new codex, right?

I would prefer to keep it simple for now and have one type - not mulitple types available.

It makes no sense having Thunderwolves but not Fenrisian Wolves IMO... so your question stacks the deck, again IMO.

If you want to ask "Should a space wolves list include Thunderwolves?" then just ask the question, don't set up (flawed) "old school vs. new school" polls.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but ATSKNF is lost if any unit in the formation does not have it? Or do you just count those with as needing two BM to suppress/break and those without as needing one?

In WH40k the unit still has ATSKNF if at least one Space Marine is part of the unit.

And for the poll:
I prefer Fenrisian Wolves as an upgrades for a formation.

Also i would like to see Thunderwolfes as either an upgrade for Wolf Lords and Wolf Guard Battle Leaders (giving him Infiltrators and perhabs +1 Extra Attack) and/or a small formation of it's own.

Because i can't select both options in the poll i chose to not to vote.

Black Legion - what if you had to choose just one though?

Sorry Ben, it's not designed to be a scientific poll - it's a fact finder. My question is there to gather info for me and ask if people prefer the old design pack to a new design pack or something in between to a degree. The options are the options I am currently looking at.

Your question does not ask if people would like to have old school wolves so a poll under your question would not give me the answers I require.

I'd prefer to see the Fenrisian Wolves as a formation upgrade, similar to the Chaos Hounds, in the Chaos Cultist list, not a formation of their own.

With Thunderwolves as their own, limited, formation; since they are two *completely* different things. One is a cavalry unit and the other a "foot" infantry unit. Fenrisian Wolves and Thunderwolves have nothing to do with each other as creatures.

Hmm. I guess the question should really then be should we have both??

I've removed the poll, so if a mod could please lock this thread I would be obliged.

Do put BOTH Fenrisan Wolves and Thunderwolves in the list please, anyone like Hena who doesn't like Thunderwolves can simply not choose to take any in their army and everyone then be happy.

Thunderwolves are a valid unit that should definitely be in there, as should. unridden Fenrisan Wolves. Harsh evolution + genetic engineering + cybernetics on something vaguely like a giant wolf but not actually could feasibly produce something that could carry a space marine. Chickens wouldn't make good riding beasts but dinosaurs might.

No, it's a pre-decided solution with an obvious result that will align with your preference (Only using one of the two unit types).

There's no point asking the community for an opinion if you're not actually going to ask them for their opinion. :-)

That's not how I approached it, that's just how you see it I'm afraid. <shrug>

But it's all past history now as I better understand how both types of wolves fit in the Space Wolves ethos.

@Dobbsy if i'm forced to choose i would choose Fenrisian Wolves as a formation upgrade and drop the rarer Thunderwolfes.
